THE BEST SHOWS IN NYC THIS WEEKEND!

Please note that Sunday is Valentine's Day so stick around for our complete show guide for that stupid holiday.

Luv U!

THURSDAY - FEBRUARY 11, 2016 A.D.

Blonde Redhead play Rough Trade. Still a great band after all these years.

For no real reason at all other than my own imaginative procrastination, here are some popular films that came out the year Blonde Redhead formed:

Jurassic Park (how about Jeff Goldblum being all OVER that Super Bowl, though - how uncanny - how bizarre)

Mrs. Doubtfire (too soon?)

The Fugitive ("search every outhouse henhouse lighthouse whorehouse chickenhouse wafflehouse")

Sleepless in Seattle (they get together in the end and it closes the storybook ending of Meg Ryan's career)

Philadelphia (one helluva year for you, Hanks, one helluva year)

The Pelican Brief ("you made a BIG mistake not selling these really expensive clothes to me because I'm a hooker BIG mistake")

..oh wait that was Pretty Woman wasn't it...

Both Beacon and Blondes sling the electronic chill vibes that'll make you feel dope all over. See them sling the sonic goodness at Bowery Ballroom and treat yourself to a double dose of zigazig ahhhhhhh.

DJ/producer/performer Amtrac (aka Caleb Cornett) plays Good Room and let me tell you some straight up true spit right now, man, four years later and I STILL blast this big time JAM whenever I wanna get lifted which is almost always.

CLASSIC CUT.

(Amtrac should remix "Meet Me Halfway" that would be so ill)

Other notable Thursday shows = Whores at Saint Vitus + Antibalas at Brooklyn Bowl

FRIDAY - FEBRUARY 12, 2016 A.D.

Toronto's PUP play Saint Vitus (GOING) and they are simply one of the best live bands playing the game today. BET. If you haven't seen them yet and you like the punk rock you should go see them at your earliest convenience. Tonight is sold-out, though. But it's fine. They're coming back in June….although this time at a bigger venue….which makes sense when you're one of the best bands in the game.

So good.

Modern Baseball play Baby's All Right (w/ Jeff Rosenstock and Pinegrove). That's a pretty small space for this GOOD band to be playing. No wonder it's sold-out then. If you have a ticket, cool, I'm very happy for you. If you don't have a ticket but still want to go, my thoughts go out to you during this difficult time.

Screaming Females play WFMU Monty Hall (tomorrow too) and the PATH to punk ends in Jersey City.

Other notable Friday shows = Chrome Sparks at Baby's All Right + Talib Kweli at Irving Plaza + Gin Blossoms at The Wellmont Theatre

"….ANYwhere you go….I'll follow you down….I'll follow you down….but not THAT far." ←-- best song about super conditional love ever

SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 13, 2016 A.D.

Detroit post ____ punks Protomartyr play Music Hall of Williamsburg. Get down with the ____ goodness. Bring earplugs and nobody gets permanently hurt.

Oakland post ______ punk band The Soft Moon (w/ Container ) play Market Hotel (and tomorrow at Saint Vitus).

Get _________!

Martin Courtney of ____ _____ plays Baby's All Right (w/ EZTV). Oh whoa whoa whoa oh oh Oh whoa whoa whoa oh oh it's real.

Kevin Morby (he's good) + Sam Cohen (you bet) + Eric D. Johnson of Fruit Bats (and how) play alone and together at The Box. Recommended if you like strong songwriters and who doesn't like that.

Other notable Saturday shows = Screaming Females at WMFU Monty Hall + Such Houndsat Surburbia + Surf Rock is Dead at Palisades + Diet Cig at Aviv
