"On November 1st, the New York arts community was shaken by the discovery of anti-Semitic graffiti on the walls of the Union Temple of Brooklyn, a historic synagogue in Prospect Heights. The evening's event, a progressive discussion between comedian Ilana Glazer and Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, was canceled in concern for the safety of its attendees. Hate speech is not welcome in New York. So Murmrr Theater, the Union Temple's music venue, is responding with an evening of unity and love. All proceeds from the evening's ticket sales, silent auction, and record raffle will go to the Southern Poverty Law Center, who monitor hate speech and fight for civil rights across America, and help pay for the temple's much-needed additional security.
