22 Good Shows To See in NYC This Week!

October 2nd - October 8th / 2017 A.D.

1. Dinosaur Jr. at Brooklyn Bowl on Monday, October 2nd / Tuesday, October 3rd.

I wonder if this band's favorite book is Supersludge by Judy Boom.

If you've never seen J Mascis & crew you must see them or regret it for all eternity. So sayeth this blob.

“Did you ever see Dinosaur Jr. live?"

“No, God. I didn't."

“Then you can't come in!"

Also, Judy Boom!

2. Four good bands at Alphaville on Tuesday, October 3rd.

I love it when four good bands play the same show.

Stuyedeyed + Idle Bloom + Pouty + Thick = four good bands.

RIYL: going to see four good bands

3. White Lung at Sunnyvale on Tuesday, October 3rd.

White Lung is such a good punk band. Oh, Canada! How do you keep doing it!

BTW, Patio also play this show. What would you say if I told you they were also a good punk band. Would you freak out? Please don't. It's only rock n roll. We need your mind fit and healthy for this real good one.

4. Broken Social Scene at Brooklyn Steel on Wednesday, October 4th.

It was nice of Twitter to raise the tweet limit to 280 so that every single member of Broken Social Scene could now have their own dedicated character.

Oh, Canada!

5. METZ at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Wednesday, October 4th / Bowery Ballroom on Thursday, October 5th.

This band is mean and loud and make super slimy totally transcendent noise.

File Under: dope shit!

METZ aren't mean really. They're actually very nice.

Oh, Canada!

6. Zola Jesus at Rough Trade on Wednesday, October 4th.

Dear God,

Please let people who never saw Dinosaur Jr. live into heaven anyway.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Zola Jesus.

Amen.

P.S. the minute I asked Zola Jesus's industrial electronic post something pop music to come into my heart I was changed for the better forever

7. Jerry Seinfeld at Beacon Theatre on Thursday, October 5th.

What's the deal with the English language anyway? You park on a driveway and drive on a parkway. What's the deal with that.

Did you see Jerry's new $100 million dollar Netflix special? I love the guy but it was mad corny. Women love flowers, Jer? That's the joke from the '70s you're reviving? He should let me control his career from now on. I run a hit blob so I'm not sweating it either.

8. Alvvays play Brooklyn Steel on Thursday, October 5th.

Forget about life for awhile and go see this show. Tell 'em blobby sent ya.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Canada!

9. The Black Lips at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday, October 10th.

The Black Lips aren't from Canada. They're from Atlanta. F those punks. I love them.

Get there early to see Diet Choke. That band is no joke.

10. LVL UP play Baby's All Right on Friday, October 6th / Saturday, October 7th.

Look up “good indie rock of today" in the dictionary and there should be a nice description of whatever that means alongside a nice picture of LVL UP... if the dictionary had pictures and you could look up phrases instead of just dumb words.

F you, Webster!

LVE LVL UP THO.

11. Pelican at Brooklyn Night Bazaar on Friday, October 6th.

This band is going back to the roots and playing stadiums again because they used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.
