20 Good Shows To See in NYC This Week!

August 21 - August 27 / 2017 A.D.

1. Midnight Oil at Terminal 5 on Monday, August 21st.

Below is a classic Midnight Oil jam.

Not Beds are Burning.

Man, I really gotta get to Australia one of these forgotten years.

2. T.J. Miller & pals at Union Hall on Tuesday, August 22nd.

Please welcome the artist formerly known as Erlich Bachman to Park Slope tonight.

And a bunch of other funny peeps too.

$8 tickets still available.

P.S. The Emoji Movie: worth the hype?

3. Ovlov at Sunnyvale on Tuesday, August 22nd.

Ovlov.

Good.

Band.

Hopefully my band Negawsklov can open for them someday.

4. Dave Chappelle at Radio City Music Hall four times this week.

The busiest recluse in town!

Lots of special guests will be showing up for Dave's remaining Radio City shows.

So help me blob.

5. Grizzly Bear at Public Arts on Wednesday, August 23rd.

If you got tickets to this show you're the luckiest guy on the Lower East Side.

6. Ilana Glazer at Littlefield on Wednesday, August 23rd.

Two shows for the Broad City star.

Both sold-out.

Sorry. I didn't do. I just---

(crowd shouts in unison): blob here!

7. Doe at Alphaville on Wednesday, August 23rd.

Doe is a punk pop* band from London.

They're noisy and sludgy and crunchy. But you can sing along!

There's all sorts of sweet harmonies going on that build into triumphant choruses.

That's where the pop of punk pop* comes in.

RIYL: Weezer / Rainer Maria / Breeders / Charly Bliss / Veruca Salt / Good Bands

8. Lala Lala at Trans-Pecos on Saturday, August 26th. With Surf Curse and Navy Gangs!

Lala Lala is a DIY punk band from Chicago.

Think lo-fi grunge with plenty of pop melodies floating above the muddled goodness and you might be thinking right.

RIYL: Girlpool * Mamas and the Papas * Palm * Pile * Chastity Belt * Vagabon * Cherry Glazerr* Hoops * Surf Curse * Good Bands

9. Tyvek at Union Pool (free day show) on Saturday, August 26th.

Final free “Summer Thunder" day show of the season.

Celebrate the summer that almost was with Detroit's noise poppers Tyvek.

Into it.

10. Afropunk Fest at Commodore Barry Park on Saturday, August 26th / Sunday, August 27th.

Check out the impressive lineup for the two-day AFROPUNK FEST in Fort Greene.

(hints: Solange * Sampha * Gary Clark Jr. * Sinkane * Dizzee Rascal * Princess Nokia * The Cool Kids)

Every year. Always dope.
