40 Super Good Shows To See In NYC In August

1. Fleet Foxes at Prospect Park on Tuesday, August 1st / Wednesday, August 2nd.

These guys are gonna big. You heard it here 1,353,424th.

(Sandy) Alex G opens both shows. He rules too.

First show is sold-out (because everybody just heard I said Fleet Foxes were gonna be big).

Second show is not........yet.

2. Dave Chappelle at Radio City Music Hall 16 times in August.

16 shows for Dave Chappelle at Radio City this month.

A bunch of special guests will be showing their famous faces each night too.

Tickets might still be available to some. I don't know. You can check. I can't do everything for you. Too busy blobbing.

3. Descendents at House of Vans (free show) on Thursday, August 3rd.

5. Slaughter Beach, Dog at Baby's All Right on Saturday, August 5th.

Slaughter Beach, Dog is Jake Ewald.

He's also in Modern Baseball, dog.

Think laid-back car ride rock for those fine nights when the music perfectly matches the curves of the clear endless road.

7. Julie Byrne at Union Pool (free daytime show) on Saturday, August 5th.

Julie Byrne makes meticulously crafted mostly acoustic folk music that just might bring peace to your soul.

It's exquisite. It's enchanting. It's haunting. It's fantastic.

Listen to "Sleepwalker." It's easily one of my favorite songs of 2017 A.D.

Craig Wedren (former Shudder to Think front man) plays a free show in Brooklyn.

9. Whitney at Prospect Park (free show) on Friday, August 11th. With Moses Sumney and Weyes Blood.

This is one of the bigger free shows this summer and currently the #6 most popular upcoming show on the blob.

They're noisy and sludgy and crunchy. But you can sing along!

There's all sorts of sweet harmonies going on that build into triumphant choruses.

That's where the pop of punk pop* comes in.
