If you're reading this on Monday, Happy Leap Day!

If you're reading this after Monday, Happy March!

If you're not reading this at all, no worries I am SO used to it!

Let's talk about good shows now in a laid-back way that is courageous and true and fine.

Welcome to Costoco.

I luv U.

Monday - February 29, 2016 A.D.

Titus Andronicus (File Under: Good) and Craig Finn of The Hold Steady (RIYL: Good) play Emmanuel Lewis Hall. Please enjoy these two videos of them covering each other now.

Free show at Pianos tonight with Surf Rock is Dead (one of the hardest working bands of 2015, according to us) and some other peeps. I like shows that are free because oftentimes that means you don't have to pay any money to see them. Please love this good song now.

Other notable shows = PC Worship at Silent Barn + Lazyeyes at Arlene's Grocery

Tuesday - March 1, 2016 A.D.

(Angel) Deradoorian starts her March residency at Union Pool tonight and she's good. She used to be in The Dirty Projectors. But she's not anymore. Thanks for listening.

Santigold would like to play a free show for you at Rough Trade if you purchase her new album “99 Cents." Two things of note: this album costs more than 99 cents and the official album title uses the symbol for “cents" but I just spent more than a minute searching my keyboard for that symbol and I can't find it so I'm giving up because that's just the way I was raised, I guess. Thanks for listening.

Other notable shows = Rivergazer at Shea Stadium

Wednesday - March 2, 2016 A.D.

Slayer, Jerry Seinfeld and Jackson Browne walk into a bar on a Wednesday night….and they have a nice time together….and that's all that happens….it was a boring bar.

Other notable shows = Holy Ghost! at MoMA's Armory Show & Preview Party (150 bones tho, yo) + Spit at Palisades + Lee Ranaldo at Merkin Concert Hall + Talib Kweli at Blue Note + Quilt at Baby's All Right

P.S. please enjoy listening to one of the best bummer songs ever and bring a little sweet darkness back into your life

Thursday - March 3, 2016 A.D.

Tonight is the best night for shows this week.

DIIV play the first of three shows at Market Hotel. I've said for years that DIIV is a good band so please give credit where credit is due and remember you heard it here FOURTH.

Australia's Wolfmother play Emmanuel Lewis Hall. Does anyone else still confuse this band with Australia's Tame Impala or is it just me? Shit, it's just me isn't it. Ugh. Some music blobber. Tell me not my faults for I already know them. In summation, Mel Gibson.

Force Field PR turns 10 tonight and to celebrate their having a pretty good party at pretty good venue Baby's All Right. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart + The Blow + Guerilla Toss + DJ Neon Indian all play. Plus, there will be a “Special Guest." I always hope that means Michael Jordan but it never does…...it never does. I'll be at this one and I'll be higher than the stars so come say heyyyyyy.

Swediish iindiie popsters Miike Snow play iin-the-round at (le) poiisson rouge toniight (don't get diizzy) and ii understand from my hiighly crediible sources that thiis should be a niice and deliightful and most iinteresting good tiime.

Gainesville's Frameworks is one of my favorite bands playing the game today. They're at Saint Vitus tonight w/ Donovan Wolfington (they rule too) and I'm not going to mind my own business on this and instead tell you definitively that you should go to this one. Unless you don't like the screamy punk rock that occasionally launches into absolutely prettiness. In which case, you're unequivocally a monster.

Other notable shows = what, you need MORE? Alright, fine. Go see The Who at MSG or something I don't care

Friday - March 4, 2016 A.D.

Ra Ra Riot play Emmanuel Lewis Hall. Remember 9 years ago when they played our SXSW show at Emo's Jr. with Cloud Cult and The Pony's and a bunch of Norwegian bands? You don't? Really? Weird. Maybe we dreamed it, man.

Dead Stars play Rough Trade. They're good. Please note, their new album comes out on Friday. It's called “Bright Colors" and while I'm not a betting man because I don't have any money I'm betting it's going to be good. Please love three good songs from it now. File Under: Good

DIIV play Market Hotel. I already mentioned that. But I can mention it again. Because this is my music blob and I can do whatever I want. That is why I am poor in pocket but rich in spirit. Amen.

Should you find yourself in Park Slope, comedian/shredder Dave Hill would like you to meet him in the very nice bathrooms of Union Hall (best place to take a shit in the city) and tell him all your secrets. His band, Valley Lodge, will cram in there too. The'll be in the third stall to your left.

Other notable shows = Miike Snow at the miighty Warsaw + Prince Rama at Baby's All Right

Saturday - March 5, 2016 A.D.

Big Ups + LVL UP + Greys + Washer play Shea Stadium. Those are three good bands right there. Recommended if you like the punk rock and/or things generally working out in life. By the way, Big Ups new album “Before a Million Universes" comes out Friday, March 4th (which may already be in the past depending on when you're reading this) and it's GOOD. Here's a song from it for you to love now.

LNZNDRF S NW BND THT FTRS MMBRS F TH NTNL ND BRT ND, NT T BRG, BT V TTLLY HRD F THS TW BNDS BFR. THY PLY TW SHWS T MRCRY LNG TNT.

(*if they ain't gonna use the vowels then I ain't gonna use the vowels)

And DIIV play Market Hotel. I've already mentioned this. Twice. This makes three. I. Am. Punk. Rock.

Other notable shows = Somos at The Studio at Webster Hall + Frameworks and Donovan Wolfington at Amityville Music Hall + The Men at Union Pool + Ski Lodge at Baby's All Right + Miniboone (final show) at Rough Trade
