You and me. We’re going to talk about good shows. And we’re going to be chill about it. Because who wants to hang out with somebody always haranguing about shit, you know? All goodness. No suckiness. Whoa My Blobness.

Forever and Ever.

Amen.

Thursday - February 12th, 2015 A.D.

Father John Misty plays Rough Trade (and Saturday at Bowery Ballroom) and I really hope this eccentro-pop folk slinger plays Misty for me. Remember that band Saxon Shore he was in? Listened to ‘em. Saw ‘em. Good band.

Super solid loud action at Palisades tonight with Nine of Swords + Low Fat Getting High + Kal Marks + Palm + Peaer. If you like staying in the same room for an entire evening because the punk goodness just keeps coming - this might be the show for you. Just let the goodness come, man. Just let the goodness come.

Two Gallants play Baby’s All Right (and Friday at Mercury Lounge). Way back when this was a brand new blob baby I was super into these guys. Some of you may remember if anybody reading this right now also read Rockness in the year 2004 A.D. But I’m not holding my breath. The following song was my JAM and I still like to listen to it when I want to be reminded of the glorious mid ‘00s shortly before the invasion of the digital screens.

Other notable shows = John Zorn at Merkin Hall of Ecstatic Music Festival + DJ Questlove at Brooklyn Bowl + Nicholas Nicholas at Cameo Gallery + Sturgill Simpson at Music Hall of Williamsburg + Franz Nicolay at The Acheron + San Fermin at Lincoln Center

The always great Titus Andronicus play Brooklyn Night Bazaar tonight. Unfortunately, I must also inform you that this show is sadly free. This means you don’t have to pay any money to go to it. Please don’t shoot the messenger. Do you think this is easy for me? It is not. You may now enjoy the following video in its 2:22:22:20 entirety before continuing on with this dynamic digital article.

How did you enjoy the performance? I thought they really got to the heart of the matter concerning The Bard.

The Hold Steady play Bowery Ballroom and if you go you have to promise me you’ll get sloppy and maybe, just maybe, we’ll get invited to some really killer parties after.

Mannequin Pussy and Amanda X lead a plethora of punk riches (Priests! + Sports! + Leggy!) at Baby’s All Right tonight. Both bands played our CMJ show in 2014 A.D. and both shredded up the joint. Thanks for not coming, asshole (jk i luv u). Friends, this is going to be a fun one.

And DJ Tanlines spin the deep cuts for your danceable pleasure at Brooklyn Bowl. Reminder. I once rolled a 145. See ya in the funny papers, sucka.

Other notable shows = Two Gallants at Mercury Lounge + Life Size Maps at Palisades + Palm at Shea Stadium + Weird Womb at Cake Shop + Lazyeyes at The Acheron

Happy Valentines Day and thanks for the heart-shaped “You Rock” cookie. I’ve been telling people that I rock for years and it was nice to finally get the validation. Welcome to Costco. I love you.

DJ Windows 98 play Baby’s All Right late tonight. Oh, Win Butler from Arcade Fire, I just love your analog sense of humor. Now you better play the 2.0 HITS or else I’m never dressing up in formal wear for one of your DJ gigs EVER AGAIN. Please enjoy this really shitty video.

Ian Matthias Bavitz aka Aesop Rock plays Gramercy Theatre and let’s take a minute to trip all the way back to 2001. Labor Days, yo. Magnets, yo.

There is a Valentine’s Day Planned Parenthood Benefit tonight at Music Hall of Williamsburg and a whole bunch of people are playing including: Jon Spencer Blues Explosion + Julianna Barwick + Crocodiles + DJ Jonathan Toubin + on and on the goodness flows.

eskimeaux play Shea Stadium and I just wrote kind words about the band’s solid lo-fi indiepop and did a really good job describing their delightful sounds.

Other notable shows = Father John Misty at Bowery Ballroom + Beacon at Baby’s All Right + Matthew Dear at Verboten + Two Gallants at Rough Trade + Har Mar Superstar at Mercury Lounge + Futurebirds at Brooklyn Night Bazaar

Sunday - February 15th, 2015 A.D.

Ricky Eat Acid (click that) plays Shea Stadium. This is the post-pastoral* project of multi-talented Maryland man Sam Ray. Get there early to see the beguiling instrumental prettiness this guy Host (click that) makes.

*I bet you’re mad you didn’t think of “post-pastoral” first but can’t you just be happy for me?

Modern Baseball + Spraynard lead a good pop punk lineup at Saint Vitus. It’s a benefit show for Cerebral Palsy and it’s also totally sold-out. So maybe I shouldn’t have brought it up. I don’t know. These decisions are so tough.

Other notable shows = Sinkane at Rough Trade + Kleenex Girl Wonder at Silent Barn + Leave the Planet at Baby’s All Right + Togetherness on HBO
