The Best Shows This Weekend!

February 21, 2013
From every dusk there will surely follow a dawn. Well look at that. Here comes the weekend again. How is that possible? How did I get here? Letting the days go by, water flowing underground. Time, we will never fully perceive your inconceivable schemes. Oh well.

Let’s talk about the best shows this weekend. Let’s look alive out there.

Friday, February 22nd. 2013. A.D.

Looks like a late night situation is your best move tonight - especially if you are in touch with the electronic-ness of your inner you. The better you. Com Truise and Beacon lead good line-up at Glasslands. Doors at 11:30pm. Yes. You. Can. Must be in a rightly aligned frame of mind to accept whatever is going on this video. The song is great though.

JDH & Dave P (from perennial New York City party heroes, FIXED) DJ at Le Bain. Doors at 10pm for that one. It’s FREE. The sounds you hear from their turntables will be danceable. Yes, they will. But they’ll also be new to you. And interesting. That’s called a triple crown in my DJ book, bub.

Oh yeah. Nick Zinner’s old band Challenge of the Future is reuniting for a good cause at Union Pool. Good luck getting into that one. But you can try. And to try is to win.

I like when three good bands all play on the same bill. Because I’m a lazy individual. And if I don’t have to move to see three good bands, I will back that situation 100% of the time. That situation is happening at Bowery Ballroom with Beach Fossils (whose new album is EXCELLENT) and Sleepies and Mr. Dream. Yes. I back this.

Get into this band, Speedy Ortiz. They’re playing Cameo with a few other good bands (another “backing” situation, it seems). Oh My Rockness says they are “Sebadoh meets Stephen Malkmus meets Polvo” which is interesting because no one has ever quoted me back to me before (that’s from “When Harry Met Sally” - I miss your words, Ms. Ephron).

Kurt Vile + Owen play NYU - which appears to be an educational store of some sort. Good. I’ve been needing to go to one of those. Do you think they sell felt? My instructional magnetic felt easel needs to be re-felted.

This is video below is all you need to know about Sunday.

That song is profound. And if you think I’m joking, you better relax. Because when I speak these words, I’m speaking the facts.
