Jokers of the Scene: this dance duo brings the beats and the booms.

May 29, 2012
Toronto's Jokers of the Scene are an explosively eccentric (that just means they're interesting) dance-production duo comprised of DJ Booth and Chameleonic. Hopefully they use their real names, Linus Booth and Chris Macintyre, when crossing the border or I'm never going to get to see these guys.

Together, Jokers of the Scene create sinisterly addictive beats that throb with optimistic menace (yes, there is such a thing... I think). This dance is dark; but it's good time dark, you know? Yeah, you know. It's not like you're going to be scared. You'll just be slightly paranoid that they've finally found you... you don't know how... but they found you.

Anyway, these two guys are really meant to be seen, not heard (or read about). You don't really sit down and listen to a Jokers of the Scene album, after all (they don't have one, anyway). No. For this, you put on your craziest gear (Glow-in-the-dark MC Hammer pants? Check!), Aqua-Net up your head (no idea), and go out and let Jokers of the Scene's bass and booms and flashes and colors and pulses and whirls overtake your normally passive soul.

That's a fancy way of saying this shit's going to make you dance that ass off (oh no, Rockness didn't. oh yes, Rockness did). For fans of good beats.

Jokers of the Scene play Glasslands, on Friday, June 1st.
