Mister Melt: look out for these two. They're coming for you.

July 18, 2011
I stumbled on this brand new band and immediately after pressing play (ok, I actually 'clicked' play but whatever) I was smitten (ok not smitten, I don't want to ask them out on a date to some low key place like a mellow café).

Mister Melt is two people... I think. There's not a whole lot out there about this band. But what I do have to go on is that Mister Melt creates nice wall-of-sound songs, with just the right amount of crunchiness, which would fit right in with your collection of Sonic Youth and Serena-Maneesh and Autolux and Weekend and The Pains and Ride albums. Probably more bands too, I'm just tired of thinking.

Mister Melt is one of those groove-driven bands that screech and swirl towards a noisy crescendo of reckoning and ultimate resolution. That's a stupid way of saying this rocks. Since I don't know a whole lot about them, why don't we stop the words there and just decide together that Mister Melt is worth going out to see play.

And who knows, maybe one day we can impress the people we pay to be our friends with, "I saw Mister Melt way back when they were brand new." And then those friends will roll their eyes and walk away from you. But that's their issue, not yours.
