25 Good Shows To See in NYC This Week!
October 30th - November 5th / 2017 A.D.
1. Halloween Shows & Parties at Various Scary Venues
Lots of goodness going on this Halloween. Some solid parties to show off your hilarious on-point topical costumes include Battles at Elsewhere's venue grand opening party, Shannon and the Clams at Knockdown Center, GWAR at Irving Plaza and a bunch more but I don't want to spoil it.
Check out our Halloween Shows & Parties page for a good list of options.
(Related to this, I recently bought some organic candy corn at Whole Foods but you know what they just don't taste the same without the pesticides.)
Please enjoy this video of Apes & Androids (RIP) performing Thriller at the Oh My Rockness Halloween / Birthday show (we were turning 2!) just eleven short years ago.
2. Ilana Glazer does a million shows at Union Hall.
OK. Not a million. Six. But still….
Anyway, all six of these shows sold-out super fast.
So why am I even bringing them up then if you can't even get in?
I don't know. Because Ilana Glazer rules?
3. Shannon and the Clams at Baby's All Right on Monday, October 30th.
If you don't like seeing bands who rule stay away from this one.
Warning: Shannon and the Clams rule.

4. Julien Baker at Rough Trade (in-store / Q & A) on Monday, October 30th.
Julien Baker's new album came out last Friday and it's been called "one of the best albums of 2017."

She'll perform some haunting songs from "Turn Out the Lights" (which, once again, rules) and take your questions at this early (starts at 6:30) good thing.
5. Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile at Beacon Theatre on Wednesday, November 1st.
This is the #1 most popular upcoming show on the blob.

8. The Raincoats at The Kitchen on Thursday, November 2nd / Friday, November 3rd.
The Raincoats formed in London in 1977 A.D.
If you're unfamiliar with their work please blast their debut album (Rough Trade, 1979 A.D. -- later repressed by Kill Rock Stars) immediately and then we'll figure out how to get you into one of their two shows at The Kitchen.
A completely influential band who still sound ahead of their time.
RIYL: grunge * post-punk * riot grrrl * no wave * music pioneers
9. Ariel Pink at (le) poisson rouge on Saturday, November 4th.
You think blobbing is easy?
OK, sweet stuff. You try describing Ariel Pink's music.
While you try, I'll just do it.
Here's what you need to know about Ariel Pink's music.
It rules.
10. The Breeders at Bowery Ballroom on Sunday, November 5th.
