Northside Fest is happening at various venues all over the north side of Brooklyn this week.

We've compiled a pretty comprehensive list of all the shows associated with this good thing here.

But here are ten shows you should really try and see.

Just try.

That's all this blob has ever asked of U.

The Oh My Rockness picks!

1. Thursday / PUP / The Hotelier / Jeff Rosenstock / Tony Molina in McCarren Park on Sunday, June 11th.

Not only is this one of the best Northside Fest shows, it's also (in this blob's opinion) one of the best free shows of entire summer.

Thursday rules. PUP rules. The Hotelier rules. Jeff Rosenstock rules. Tony Molina rules. And you don't have to pay! As long as you RSVP'd or have a Northside badge.

Gonna lay everything on the line. This show will rule. So help me blob.

RIYL: THE PUNK ROCK

2. Dirty Projectors / Kamasi Washington / Jay Som in McCarren Park on Thursday, June 8th.

Three big time performers playing this beautiful bill.

Dirty Projectors is one of the decade's most interesting bands.

Kamasi Washington is the truth.

Jay Som maybe made the album of the year.

Plus, they're playing in a park! The great outdoors!

Nothing but Peace and Love for this one.

3. Mary Timony at Rough Trade on Thursday, June 8th.

The respected former leader of Helium (1992 - 1998) plays Helium songs at two venues this month.

Only Mary Timony's Rough Trade show is part of Northside though.

Her two Mercury Lounge shows (early / late) on Friday aren't included because Manhattan isn't the north side of Brooklyn.

Manhattan is Brooklyn West.

Please note: Helium ruled!

4. Lower Dens at Rough Trade on Saturday, June 10th.

Jana Hunter's boss Baltimore band is performing ABBA's Gold: Greatest Hits album. I don't know why. For fun, probably!

"The night is young and the music's high. With a little bit of rock music, everything is fine."

*Tony Molina (see above) will be performing songs from Dinosaur Jr's "You're Living All Over Me" & Tredici Bacci String Quartet are playing songs from Super Mario Bros.

**weird show!

***good show!

5. Girlpool at Warsaw on Friday, June 9th.

Have you heard Girlpool's new album? It rules. You should listen to it a hundred times ASAP.

And then go see them play songs from it at Warsaw on Friday if at all possible.

Also playing this show - Ian Sweet (sweet!) and Lexie (featuring Greta Kline of Frankie Cosmos and members of Warehouse).

RIYL: bands that rule

6. Julia Holter at National Sawdust on Saturday, June 10th.

Superb artist /composer Julia Holter (see: Domino) headlines this fine show curated by The Creative Independent, an excellent resource for creative peeps.

There will also be a live conversation with Tunisian protest singer Emel Mathlouthli, Downtown Boys' Victoria Ruiz and writer Amy Rose Spiegel.

7. Aldous Harding at Baby's All Right on Saturday, June 10th.

Gothic acid folk straight outta New Zealand!

Aldous Harding makes moody goodness that gets under your skin and chills there for awhile.

Blast this jam from her album "Party" (via 4AD) and you'll hear what I mean.

It stays with you.

Also playing this show - Happyness!

(Aldous Harding also plays The Park Church Co-Op on Thursday)

8. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday, June 9th.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Forever.

Also playing this show - Beverly & Ablebody!

9. Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble at National Sawdust on Thursday, June 8th.

French musician Laetitia Sadier brings her new group the Source Ensemble to town.

You might know her former band. STEREOLAB.

Here's a solid jam off LSSE's new album (via Drag City). Goes great w/ cocktail hour!

File Under: dots

RIYL: loops

10. A bunch of punk at Sunnyvale on Saturday, June 10th.

Dope DIY record label Exploding in Sound hosts this excellent all-day rager.

Big Ups be up in there. They always rule.

Kal Marks, Two Inch Astronaut, Baked, gobbinjr, Peaer, Stove and more good bands playing too!

Coming early and staying late wouldn't be the wrong move.

100% good bill.
