Kevin Barnes (of Of Montreal, a band of Athens) plays (le) poisson rouge and you might want to think about maybe going and this bold suggest I won't ever back down from.... EVER. So help me blob.

New Zealand's The Chills (they're from the '80s!) play synth-y indie goodness pop at WFMU Monty Hall (that's in New Jersey!). If you go (think about it) please consider bringing a sweater or something as it could get a little _____.

So far this really good feature is writing itself this week.

Also! Up-and-coming comic Joe Pera is on the (all-around solid) bill at Palisades. He kind of reminds me of my grandpa (RIP, DLH). Watch this. Immediately. Seriously. It's only 11 minutes long. Please.

(nice………..nice………..nice……………..nice)

Other notable Monday shows = Sondre Lerche at McKittrick Hotel + Wyatt Cenac's “Night Train" at Littlefield

Danny Brown does a free show at House of Vans thanks to shoes or something. Thank you, shoes! Oh, Shoes, my Shoes! Please note: you had to RSVP to this one. If you didn't, well, there's no easy way to say this so I'm just going to say it….. the RSVP list is already closed. My blob thoughts are with you during this difficult time. (If you did RSVP already - SEE YOU THERE ______!*)

(*management says I'm not allowed to swear anymore on my own goddamn music blob)

Speaking of free shows that don't suck please peep the massive free summer shows list we made 4 U. Why did we do it? Because everything we do…..we do it……….4 U.

Chicago's Twin Peaks play Music Hall of Williamsburg (and tomorrow at Bowery - both with Ne-Hi) and they are one grimy good rock 'n' roll band, man. Warning: last time I saw these dudes play (they were great, BTW) I'm pretty sure I smelled a Mari-Juana plant so please take all the necessary anti-Mari-Juana precautions before showing up to this (and you totally should show up to this, BTW, this band is good).

In summation GO BULLS (um, next year, I mean).

Other notable Tuesday shows = Flatbush Zombies at Webster Hall + Todd Rundgren at Brooklyn Bowl + Nicholas Nicholas at Silent Barn

Wednesday - May 25, 2016 A.D.

Palehound play Baby's All Right.

File Under: A Good Band!

RIYL: Going To Good Shows

Twin Peaks play Bowery Ballroom. Sure, I just mentioned this. But I'm going to mention it again. Because they're a good band. And because this is my music blob and I can do what I want. In summation, Michael Jordan.

Cyndi Lauper and Boy George play Beacon Theater and look I know you're probably not gonna go see Cyndi Lauper and Boy George (never bullshit a bullshitter) but this gives me a good opportunity to state once again my firmly held music blob belief that “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is one of the very greatest pop songs of the last 30 years. BET ME (but not with real money please as I run a DIY music blob and I don't have any).

Other notable Wednesday shows = Flatbush Zombies at Webster Hall + BØRNS at Terminal 5

The David Lynch Foundation (yes, the director from The Holly Wood!) is presenting a pretty pretty prettttty good show tonight w/ Erika Spring (of Au Revoir Simone / ex-Dirty on Purpose) + Annie Hart (of Au Revoir Simone) + Nick Hakim + DJ Questlove. All proceeds go towards providing meditation for those suffering from PTSD. Good show. Good cause. Do it! Also, I still listen to Dirty on Purpose (RIP) on the regular.

Testimonium" is a performance art piece and you can read all about it here (too involved to get into it right now I just blob here) but the real reason I wanted to let you know about this on my music blob is because Joan of Arc did all the music and will be performing alongside it tonight (and Friday and Saturday) at Knockdown Center in Queens and I like Joan of Arc. How about you?

The (soon to be) legendary post ____ band Battles play Music Hall of Williamsburg and if you've never seen them play live before, well, you should. And that I don't back down from! I said good day, sir! I SAID GOOD DAY!

Britta Phillips (of Luna / Dean & Britta / Jem ←-- who's truly outrageous, btw) plays a free show at Rough Trade. She's good! No wristband, badge, retina scan needed for entry. Just show up!

Other notable Thursday shows = Sinkane at Union Pool + Tall Juan at Sunnyvale + PC Worship at Shea Stadium + Holly Miranda at Hell Phone

Friday - May 27, 2016 A.D.

Speaking of Britta Phillips, her and her husband Dean Wareham's (see also: Galaxie 500) old dreamy band Luna (they're from the '90s!) play The Bell House tonight. Go if you like seeing good bands. If seeing good bands isn't your thing stay far, far away from this one.

B Boys (makin' with the freak freak) play Alphaville tonight and if herky jerky post ____ punk is where you're at in life these days I highly suggest showing up to this one. No, I actually demand that you do. It most likely won't be the wrong move. No, it definitely won't be the wrong move. I guarantee it.*

(*guarantee not a guarantee musical tastes are so subjective u know????)

Other notable Friday shows = Testimonium (w/ Joan of Arc) at Knockdown Center + Savak at Shea Stadium + Haybaby at Palisades + Surf Rock is Dead at Baby's All Right

Saturday - May 28, 2016 A.D.

New Zealand's (originally - they're all over the place now) power synth poppers Yumi Zouma play National Sawdust and if you go you can dance if you want to. You can totally dance. Dancing highly encourage. Please dance.

If you like pop that punks just right please really consider going to Suburbia tonight for Dowsing + Katie Ellen (ex-Chumped) + Kittyhawk (Chicago knows how to do it). It'll be 10000% worth the $5 ticket.

Epic popsters Mass Gothic play Sunnyvale. This band (who recently signed to this record label called Sup Pop or something) is…. let's see what's just the right word I'm looking for to describe this band…. thinking….. thinking….. ah-ha!... good…. that's the just the right word I want to use here...this band is good!

Other notable Saturday shows = Fern Mayo at Shea Stadium + Anamanaguchi at Hammerstein Ballroom + Dreamcrusher at Trans-Pecos + Testimonium (w/ Joan of Arc) at Knockdown Center + Fred Thomas (of Saturday Looks Good To Me) at Cake Shop
