February 4, 2016

It's almost the end of the first week of February! Congratulations to us on winter sorta maybe not really but kinda close to almost being over!

To celebrate, consider going to one of these good shows happening this weekend. Sure, you'll probably freeze your ass off getting there but once you're inside it'll be nothing but sizzling times.

We're moving towards the light and winter is almost over, man.

Sorta. Maybe. Not really.

But kinda!

Thursday - February 4, 2016 A.D.

Hannibal Buress will present a screening of his new Netflix special "Comedy Camisado" tonight at Music Hall of Williamsburg. There will also be DJ's and stuff. The event is FREE and starts at 7 PM and is first come / first served.

Detroit post _____ noise band Wolf Eyes plays their first of three shows at Union Pool this week. Bring earplugs and nobody gets hurt. Did you know we sell those? And this dope Oh My Rockness shirt too? But I'm getting off topic. This is supposed to be how Wolf Eyes is a good band. In summation, please buy a Rockness t-shirt. And/or earplugs.

Oberhofer play Baby's All Right (and Saturday at the grand opening of Sunnyvale Brooklyn). I first told you how good this band was five years ago and while I never go back and read the old profiles I write (because there are no rearview mirrors here at Whoa My Blobness) I still agree with whatever nice things I said about Oberhofer back then. Good. Band.

Pharoah Monche plays Merkin Concert Hall and I wore the SHT OUTTA this song (SEE BELOW) from 1999.

*don't like me fake cursing on this thing? simon says shut the fck up

Other notable shows = Steep Leans at Palisades + Spank Rock at Good Room + Jenny Lewis at Beacon Theater + Washer at Aviv

Friday - February 5, 2016 A.D.

Solid popster punk band Chumped play their final two shows ever (tonight and tomorrow at Suburbia) before they call it quits to go work on a dairy farm or whatever it is they want to do. Both of these shows are sold-out so I'm sorry about that if you don't have a ticket. But you'll have many opportunities moving forward to see Katie Ellen, the new band from Chumped's Anika Pyle & Dan Frelly. They come....they go....all we are is dust in the wind, dudes.

Baby's All Right is certainly hosting some goodness tonight. Beverly + Wall + MPHO + Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone = A+ 100% Best New Everything Good Good Good. Go if you're the type that likes going to see shows that are good.

Maybe you just want to go to a show that's like a haunted house for adults. If that's the case, your highly specific craving is in luck, because Dreamcrusher destroys the noise at Alphaville. You will feel uncomfortable. In the uncomfortable way. And you'll love it.

Other notable shows = Wolf Eyes at Union Pool + Jamie Woon at Bowery Ballroom + Wilco at Kings Theatre

Those are the good shows going on this first week of February.

One week closer to the light.

We're getting there. Sorta. Maybe. Not really.

But kinda!

Amen.
