What's up, NYC. Did you have a sweet t-day? Cool cool cool. Glad we've finished talking about the past. Let's now concern ourselves with the very near future and spend a few moments talking about the good shows happening this week.

It's pretty chill out there.

Monday - November 30, 2015 A.D.

Dreamcrusher bring their beautifully brutal NOISE to Baby's All Right. Wear earplugs and nobody gets hurt. #NOYCE

Glen Hansard (of The Frames + The Swell Season) plays Kings Theatre (and Tuesday at Beacon) and I saw that movie “Once" once. Thanks for listening.

It's not Halloween but My Teenage Stride covers Velvet Underground and Hounds Basket covers Smashing Pumpkins at Silent Barn. Pill DJ's. So what else is new with you?

Other notable shows = Wyatt Cenac's “Night Train" at Littlefield

Tuesday - December 1, 2015 A.D.

Elvis Depressedly and LVL UP are two good bands. Click their names and I'll spend a bit more time talking with you about their goodness if you'd like. They both play Shea Stadium. You should go. And I should mind my own business.

London's Spector play Saint Vitus (with Slothrust) and I think they're pretty popular over there on that side of The Pond. Not here, though. Not yet. Let's have a listen and then you and I can single-handedly decide if they are worthy of being popular over here too.

Neil Degrasse-Tyson will be discussing his second favorite subject, Astronomy, at Kings Theatre. His first favorite subject, Neil Degrasse-Tyson, will probably come up too.

Other notable shows = Kelela at Music Hall of Williamsburg + The Sword at Webster Hall + free Cake Shop comedy

Wednesday - December 2, 2015 A.D.

Ground Control Touring turns fifteen. And to celebrate, fifteen bands from their roster play across three stages at Webster Hall. Bands = Superchunk, Kurt Vile, Waxahatchee, Beach Fossils, Hop Along, Rainer Maria, Porches, Screaming Females, Perfect Pussy + more. As of this writing (10:14 AM in the Year That I'm Writing This A.D.) it is not yet sold-out so there's still time for you to consider ponying up the thirty-five bones it's gonna take to get into this one.

Four Tet plays Output and he's real good so you want to go go this instead? Be my guest (but you can't have my +1... sorry... I always keep that open for David Bowie just in case).

Or, go see Connan Mockasin at National Sawdust because he came all the way from New Zealand to play for you, leaving its summer for our winter, and dealing with the epic headaches that come with traveling from the other side of THE WORLD. No guilt trip if you don't wanna go, though. Whatever. You do you. It's fine.

Other notable shows = Erykah Badu at Kings Theatre + Kelela at Music Hall of Williamsburg + Dan Croll and Beverly at Knitting Factory

Thursday - December 3, 2015 A.D.

Superchunk (1989 - ????) plays Baby's All Right. If you were paying attention you may have noticed these indie “college" rock legends also played the Ground Control Touring thing at Webster last night. I'm not sure if there are tickets still available to this or not. It's not my job to tell you which shows are sold-out or not you're going to have to put forth a little effort on your own if we're going to make this relationship work.

Speaking of indie “college" rock legends, Dinosaur Jr. (1984 - ????) start their string of seven consecutive shows at Bowery Ballroom. That's a lot of shows! Everything else still cool with you since you started reading this great article? Glad to hear it.

Not only do The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die play Music Hall of Williamsburg but their big time jam also kicked off my really good “15 Best Songs of 2015" article. Here's the song I'm talking about. Love it now.

Other notable shows = Weston at The Wonder Bar + Spector at Mercury Lounge

Friday - December 4, 2015 A.D.

Neko Case (of The N_w Porn___ers) plays the Apollo Theater. This show was originally at Brooklyn Masonic Temple. But they moved it. Thanks for listening. Got any other plans this weekend?

Jesse Ruins is an atmospheric synth pop band from Tokyo and I told you they were good wayyyyy back in 2013. Tonight, they play their FIRST EVER U.S. SHOW at Cake Shop. But if you miss it, that's cool, because tomorrow you have the chance to see their SECOND EVER U.S. SHOW and you can lie to your friends in the future and say you were at the first if you want to I won't tell.

There is a “Vocal Fry" happening at Alphaville with music being provided by Pile and words being slung by Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz and other peeps. What is a “Vocal Fry?" No idea. Let's keep talking about more good shows this week!

Other notable shows = Dinosaur Jr at Bowery Ballroom + Yvette at Baby's All Right + PC Worship at Palisades + Future Punx at RAKit Club + The 1975 at Terminal 5

Saturday - December 5, 2015 A.D.

Car Seat Headrest played like twenty-five shows (rough estimate) at CMJ this year, remember? I sure do. Who do you think listed them all? (Claire.) The forever prolific Will Toledo (he's recorded a dozen albums already…. most recently for Matador…. and he's only twenty-two …. asshole…. just kidding!) and his crew are back to play Baby's All Right and it'll be good. So help me blob.

We Were Promised Jetpacks play Warsaw. The future couldn't give this really good Scottish band what they were looking for but how about driverless cars instead as a nice compromise.

Haybaby open the action at (le) poisson rouge. Please enjoy these really great words I just wrote about Haybaby's goodness. Or, just play this good Haybaby song. Whatever you want. This is Oh My Rockness Your Way.

Cyndi Lauper does her annual holiday show at Beacon Theater and I don't really care one way or another about that I just wanted to use this as an opportunity to once again tell you that “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is one of the best pop songs of the last thirty years. And I mean that, man.

Other notable shows = Dinosaur Jr at Bowery Ballroom + Grooms at Palisades (early) + Sepalcure at Palisades (late) + Crocodiles at The Grand Victory + Goldroom at Verboten

Sunday - December 6, 2015 A.D.

The only thing I really want in life is to someday hang out with John Waters because John Waters is the best (chilling with Michael Jordan and creating immortal works of art would be cool too). His Christmas show is tonight at City Winery and it's being billed as “Holier & Dirtier." And how!

Spencer Moody (vocalist of Seattle's Murder City Devils) plays a solo show at Saint Vitus Bar with Love as Laughter and Space Merchants. Do you like Murder City Devils? Me too! We should totally hang out sometime.

'70s era Cleveland rockers Rocket From the Tombs still kick it from beyond the grave from time to time and that time is tonight at Baby's All Right. -- File Under: Proto RIYL: Punk

Other notable shows = Dinosaur Jr at Bowery Ballroom + Landlady's Holiday Spectacular at The Bell House + Kid Cudi at Terminal 5 + Arm Candy at Shea Stadium + whatever chill show you'd like to stream on your TV I think I'll choose Nathan For You
