I'm going to write about some good shows happening around NYC this week. Just as soon as I'm done writing this really great intro.

Done!

Monday - November 23, 2015 A.D.

Okkervil River end their run of shows performing “Black Sheep Boy" at Bowery Ballroom. Speaking of Will Scheff, read this thing he wrote a couple years ago about the greatest concert video he's ever seen and then watch it via YouTube or wherever. It's seriously amazing.

Wild Nothing and Alex G play Baby's All Right. The album below was my favorite of 2010 and I still put it on the old record player whenever I want to feel young again.

KRS One plays S.O.B.'s. Please enjoy a clip of this absolute hip hop classic. Not later. Not soon. NOW. I'm just bummed it cuts off.

Other notable shows = Angel Haze at S.O.B.'s (early) + Nik Turner's Hawkwind at The Grand Victory

Tuesday - November 24, 2015 A.D.

My Morning Jacket plays Beacon Theater (and Wednesday and Friday too). This recommendation made while wearing my morning pants. Relatedly, I don't want to take full credit for sweatpants being cool again but do I want to pretend my smart fashion sense (comfort over style, always) didn't make its mark on the world? That would be a little disingenuous at best.

Yonatan Gat plays Knitting Factory (w/ Pill) and that guy (ex-Monotonix) is not a guitar hero he's a guitar GOD.

Other notable shows = free Cake Shop comedy + Dragonette at Bowery Ballroom

Wednesday - November 25, 2015 A.D.

Seattle's Beat Connection play Mercury Lounge. I saw them a few years ago at SXSW and remember them being good. You're welcome for this cool story. Please tell it to others and keep it alive.

And My Morning Jacket play Beacon. But I already told you that.

Other notable shows = whatever delicious food theater you're creating for tomorrow in your oven

Thursday - November 26, 2015 A.D.

There are no shows happening tonight.

I wonder.

Why.

Did you ever notice how turkey.

Makes you.

Tired.

(everybody has that relative who thinks over the dinner table that they're the first one to tell you about turkey and tryptophan and sleepiness for the first time)

Also, this is my favorite Thanksgiving movie. If you disagree with me please tell me in the comments section this music blob has thankfully never had.

Friday - November 27, 2015 A.D.

This morning I woke up at 3 AM and saved 100% by turning over and going back to sleep.

Forth Wanderers play The Studio at Webster Hall (with the also excellent Mal Devisa). And this really good band just so happened to make my “15 Best Songs of 2015" list. Please click over and love that really good article now. I 100% agree with all my song selections.

The Menzingers + Mewithoutyou + Pianos Become the Teeth + Restorations play Webster Hall. Let's go and do shots every time The Menzingers sing about waitresses and/or smoke breaks.

And My Morning Jacket is still at it at Beacon. But enough with the Jackets.

Other notable shows = why go see shows when you can buy a bunch of shit you don't need from the convenience of your computer????????????????????????????????

Saturday - November 28, 2015 A.D.

Miley Cyrus (who, to be clear, is not good) plays Terminal 5 tonight and the $69.69 (sold-out) ticket price confirms she is the edgiest former Disney star in the game. If you go to this show I hope you're going for Dan Deacon who opens because that guy rules.

Fern Mayo plays Palisades and this is so weird but I just wrote nice things about them. It's almost like I plan this shit! You read those nice words now.

Scott Weiland (who, to be clear, is not good) plays The Wellmont Theatre and the first time I saw the video for “Plush" by Stone Temple Pilots on MTV I wondered why Eddie Vedder dyed his hair red and then I changed the channel.

Other notable shows = look, man, when I mention Scott Weiland you know it's pretty slim pickins out there

SEE ALL OF OUR SATURDAY PICKS

Sunday - November 29, 2015 A.D.

They Might Be Giants play Music Hall of Williamsburg.

Take us out, Malcolm in the Middle TURN THIS BIG TIME JAM UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other notable shows = did you ever notice how turkey makes you tired

Thanks for listening. Sorry the shows aren't that great this week. Blame being thankful.

Welcome to Costco.

I.
