((Sunburned Hand of the Man)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Sunburned Hand of the Man

The Boston musical collective Sunburned Hand of Man play strange psych-folk acid stoner drone that will definitely appeal to fans of Six Organs of Admittance, Devendra Banhart, Acid Mother's Temple, and anyone who likes beards and brown clothes. Head sunburned man, John Molony, describes their sound as "a cross between the Melvins and Sonic Youth." Call it hippie music for hipsters.

Even though the whole "freak-folk" movement is somewhat new, Sunburned Hand of Man have been making freak-folk-friendly music for the better part of a decade. The band drummed up much of its original buzz by circulating homemade CDrs of their epic sound experiments to kids in the know, who ate it up. And while they haven't achieved the same type of success as some of their counterparts, they're still able to be out there doing their thing. Sounds like success to me. Besides, it's clear they're much too multi-talented to have a gold record anytime soon.
