((Honeyblood)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Written by Patrick McNamara

Glasgow’s Honeyblood are two ladies (Stina Maria Claire Tweeddale on guitar/vocals + Shona McVicar on drums = goodness) who rock the crunchy fuzzy sunshine pop that I wanna blast at my next rowdy backyard BYOB BBQ. But A.) I don’t have a backyard and 2.) I don’t own a grill and Z.) I don’t have any friends. But I’ll BYOB alright and blast this to myself on the couch just the same. That’s OK. It’ll still be chill.

Honeyblood released their debut 7” for FatCat Records (also home to fine fellow strapping Scots such as We Were Promised Jetpacks + PAWS + The Twilight Sad + probably more, I don’t know, I didn’t go through their entire roster and research birthplaces, dudes). And the two songs on that thing are poppy and sublime. So you should think about getting it. Their debut full-length vinyl is also due circa now. Purchase that too. Why the hell not.

The band has also recently played shows with Sleigh Bells + Crocodiles + Palma Violets + Teenage Fanclub. And I’ve heard of all those bands before. So I'm not sweating it either.

Finally, in summation, lastly I must tell you thus. I know Scotland is nice and beautiful and lush. But Stina and Shona should really consider a move to LA. Their band’s crunchy fuzzy sunshine sound would fit right in with all the other good crunchy fuzzy sunshine bands there. Seriously. They should do it. Just bite the bullet and do it. They'd be huge.

And I should mind my own business.
