Monday - August 8, 2016 A.D.

4 good bands play Shea Stadium. Ovlov + Happy Diving + Peaer + Patio. How many good bands is that? 4!

Shopping came all the way from London (that's in England!) to play post ____ punk songs 4 U at Silent Barn. Please note: this band rules.

Also. Drake plays DIY co-op art space Madison Square Garden tonight but the best part about having your own music blob is u don't have to pretend to care about Drake.

Other notable Monday shows = Matthew Dear at Flash Factory + Dillinger Escape Plan at Rough Trade

Tuesday - August 9, 2016 A.D.

The #1 most popular show on the blob is tonight at East River Park Amphitheater and Neon Indian is playing and it's free. Please decide before the end of this sentence if you're gonna go to this OK great see you there!

Other notable Tuesday shows = Haybaby at Alphaville + Jill Scott at the Apollo + Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone at Solar One + Snoop at Jones Beach

Wednesday - August 10, 2016 A.D.

Wild Beasts came all the way from England to play songs 4 U at Baby's tonight. Hope to see u there! (but if I don't, it's cool, they're coming back in November but u didn't hear it from this blob it would be real embarrassing if people found out we listed good upcoming shows)

Belly is an “alternative" band that once was (what were the '90s even LIKE, man) and now they're back (from the buzz bin to the bargain bin and back again) and playing Bowery Ballroom tonight (and tomorrow too). Oh! That reminds me. Don't forget to feed the tree.

RJD2 plays on a boat tonight. I like boats. Do u like boats. What's your favorite boat. Mine's whatever boat Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth and Santana featuring Rob Thomas are on.

Also. They're showing a screening of the 1986 adventure musical fantasy film “Labyrinth" in Prospect Park tonight. Little Known Fact: the guy who played Jareth the Goblin King was also a singer!

Other notable Wednesday shows = Piebald (reunion) at Webster Hall + Sick Feeling at The Bowery Electric + Zig Zags at Mercury Lounge

Thursday - August 11, 2016 A.D.

Punk legends Drive Like Jehu play The Bell House tonight (and tomorrow at Irving Plaza) and these are going to be the shows of the year as far as THIS blob is concerned. I've been waiting to see this band for years and years and now I can. You can totally come too. Assuming you have a ticket. Both are sold-out. Just like the shows of the year should be.

Hoops is a good band. B Boys is a good band. Both good bands play Shea Stadium. File Under: Good Bands.

Torres plays a free show (w/ museum admission) at MoMA for their “Summer Thursdays" series. When I worked at MoMA in Visitors Services the two most asked questions were 1.) where's Starry Night and 2.) where's the bathroom. The two most commonly told jokes when I was selling tickets were 1.) “I'm a student of life - does that qualify me for the student discount?" and 2.) guy points to himself and says “one adult" and then points to his wife and says “and one senior" and then he laughs and laughs and laughs.

And Herbie Hancock plays Prospect Park. Rock it.

Other notable Thursday shows = Belly at Bowery Ballroom + Mass Gothic at Mercury Lounge + Drowners at Industry City (free)

Friday - August 12, 2016 A.D.

Drive Like Jehu plays Irving Plaza. Remember: Show. Of. The. Year. So help me blob.

The Bronx plays on a boat but we've talked enough about boats. Just kidding! I could talk about boats all day have u ever been in a canoe, mannnnnnn?

Dr. Dog (wow that's one smart pooch!) play a free show in Prospect Park. Question: will the park rangers make an exception to the rule in this case and allow Dr. Dog to be off their leashes during the performance? You gotta hope so!

Or, just go see Kool & the Gang in Coney Island and be happy for a few hours like you're at a real fun wedding reception I don't give a _____.

Other notable Friday shows = Yes (oh yeah) at The Capitol Theatre + Laura Stevenson at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood + Vasudeva at Suburbia

Saturday - August 13, 2016 A.D.

Parquet Courts play Market Hotel tonight. This band is good. You heard it here FORTIETH. More on this good band later right now I'm stoned and starving. BRB.

MoMA's Warm Up starts at 3 PM today. Go if you like hot dancing. Please note: there are only a few of these parties left. Summer is fading! Oh well. Sic Transit Gloria. Mono No Aware. Dust in the wind, dudes.

The Go-Go's play Central Park Summerstage tonight (and tomorrow at Stone Pony). Have you listened to their classic 1981 debut “Beauty and the Beat" lately? Probably not. Revisit it. It's good! So is Best Coast. They're playing this show too! I'm glad we had this talk.

And Blink-182 plays Jones Beach (and tomorrow at PNC Whatitsface). Can't wait to read the next big digital thinkpiece about whether this band is good or not!

(this band is good)

Other notable Saturday shows = X at Irving Plaza + Palehound at Trans-Pecos + A-Trak on Fire Island (free) + Girlpool at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood
