Smoosh play Knitting Factory

August 11, 2005
Smoosh is a Seattle duo comprised of thirteen-year-old drummer/vocalist Asya and her eleven-year-old sister, Chloe, on keyboards and vocals. These two write joyfully concise synth-based pop songs that run from the silly, to the angry, to the sublime. The subject of an in-depth article in Believer Magazine's recent Music Issue, Smoosh's lyrics and music are entirely original. This isn't The Partridge Family.

The sisters were "discovered" and mentored musically by Death Cab For Cutie drummer, Jason McGerr. They went on to tour with Death Cab, as well as Sleater-Kinney, Mates of State and Rilo Kiley. Their energetic live show was the talk of SXSW 2005 and started the hype machine cranking. You can bet they'll be around long after they've hit puberty (word is they're training their eight-year-old sister on bass). They are the real deal.

Smoosh plays Knitting Factory, Wednesday, August 17th, and at Bowery Ballroom with Sufjan Stevens, Saturday, August 20th.
