The Fatales
NYC's (by way of Virginia) The Fatales play synth and guitar-driven music layered with spaced-out atmospherics. They can be compared to Les Savy Fav and Radiohead for relying on both staccato spazz and sampling swirl sonics. The band is influenced by a bunch of bands that you probably like too, including My Bloody Valentine, Sea and Cake, Built to Spill and most everything Elephant 6.
Their debut self-released album, Pretty in Pixels, should be required listening for any band that doesn't have a lot of money to spend in the recording studio but still wants it to sound good. This is hi-fi production on a slim-to-nothin' budget. A very solid band that probably won't stay unsigned for long.
