((Sons and Daughters)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Sons and Daughters photographed by Joe Dilworth
Scotland's Sons and Daughters are riding high after supporting label mates, city mates, and just plain mates, Franz Ferdinand, on tour. But these guys' sound is just as much owed to Cat Power or Smog as it is to Franz. Sons and Daughters, featuring members of highly underrated Arab Strap, sing sinister pop songs that are usually about love, and usually last about three minutes. They swap instruments on stage so everyone gets a turn on the new-wave guitars.

But if you think you know their sound from listening to Franz, you don't. To keep things interesting, Sons and Daughters throw in American folk influences along with an array of blues, funk, country, post-punk and rock 'n' roll. If Johnny Cash was alive, was 25, and lived in Williamsburg, he might sound like Sons and Daughters.
