((Slutever)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Slutever
Written by Patrick McNamara
Slutever are a fuzzy punk pop (not to be confused with pop punk) duo from L.A. (via Philadelphia) comprised of best friends Nicole Snyder and Rachel Gagliardi (who is also a member of another good band called Upset).
Together, they write simple guitar/drums songs (not to be confused with easy) that are crunchy, completely catchy, and will put your ass in a better mood - even if you’re sometimes singing along to lyrics about heartbreak, exasperation, and general twenty-something life malaise. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The band is bffs with Girlpool, another fine fuzzy punk duo (who recently made the inverse move of Slutever and left L.A. for Philly - tough transition) and they even covered one of Girlpool’s songs on a split they released together near the end of 2014. It’s cool and I’ll post it for you after I’m done writing these words blah blah blah.
Snyder and Gagliardi have also said some of their current favorite bands include Speedy Ortiz and Mannequin Pussy and I’m inclined to agree. Slutever opened for Best Coast during one of their earliest shows and have recently played dates with good bands like The Soupcans + PINKWASH + Hunters + Radiator Hospital.
So... I hope all of these fine names help sway you to give Slutever a blast. That's my only intention here today - to convince you to give these two a GODDAMN CHANCE. And if not, oh well, you snooze, you lose, blah blah blah.
