((Clogs)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Clogs
Clogs play challenging orchestral music that could be called classical for indie rockers. Relying mostly on strings (guitar, violin, viola, cello) and limited vocals (Padma Newsome sings sparingly), Clogs cull influence from every part of the globe, from Europe to India to Australia (1/4 of the band lives in Australia, the other 3/4 in Brooklyn... talk about a killer commute).
Their sprawling, experimental "world" sound full of jazz, post-rock, art-pop and drone, has been compared to Godspeed, Kronos Quartet, Rachel's, and The Books. They recently toured with Bell Orchestre, Richard Reed Perry's (of Arcade Fire) own experimental project, and are signed to Brassland Records (The National, Pela).
If any music truly begs to be seen live, it's this. One can take only so much violin dissonance on disc, but alive on stage, the music quickly becomes an enticing and engaging spectacle.
