((Bellini)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Perhaps best known as the band Damon Che (Don Caballero) quit on stage, mid-set, even taking the van, Bellini has morphed from a contentious duo to a more harmonious quartet. Bellini (on Temporary Residence Ltd., one of our very favorite labels) focuses on tight, complex melodies with fierce rhythms and ever-shifting tempos.

Led by the smooth, alluring voice of femme fatale Giovanna Cacciola, this band of (mostly) Italians can even make guitar stabs sound sexy. Comparisons have been made to Slint, The Jesus Lizard and Girls vs. Boys (due, in no small part, to the fact that drummer Alexis Fleisig is the former drummer for GVB).

Their first album as a quartet, Small Stones, features the razor sharp recording of Steve Albini, and their live show retains the frenzied pace of the album. Try to see if you can keep up with these guys... they're lights out.
