((65daysofstatic)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

I love Sheffield's 65daysofstatic. Then again, I love Mogwai and Mono and From Monument to Masses, so how could I not love these exceptional post-rock-electro-instrumentalists?

These four men play long songs that steadily build to a cataclysmic explosion of distorted guitar rock-outs. Sounds familiar maybe. But what probably separates these guys more from, say, a Mogwai, is that they also incorporate a ton of drum samples (along with a live drummer) that sound like DJ Shadow at his most spazzy. So there are big beats nestled nicely underneath the melodic noise.

I liked the first album of theirs that I heard, One Time for all Time. But it's their latest, The Destruction of Small Ideas, that convinced me that this show could possibly be up there with my most inspirational shows of the last few years. It's amazing.
