Noah and the Whale, huh? I'm going to start a band called Abraham and the Ten Commandments. But who needs biblical accuracy when you've got catchy little ditties like these. This merry band of four from London make slightly-more-substantial-than-twee rock mixed in with a little bit of lo-fi folk that's generally good-natured. Sometimes ukuleles and banjos and horns are called upon to supply the bounce to this guitar pop. So yeah, this doesn't really sound like the Old Testament (unless their horns are Rams' horns, of course).

Apparently the band are huge fans of Wes Anderson and/or Noah Baumbach (it's really the same things these days, right?), which is worth noting only because Noah and the Whale could provide the soundtrack to all those slow-motion shots Wes Anderson now uses in every single one of his movies, or all those moments the Baumbach's sad protagnist realizes his life's depression is rather quite beautiful in a way.

The band are hyping up, having recently played U.K. shows with Broken Social Scene and Feist, and they are set to play 2008's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

So anyway, Noah and the Whale kind of sound like Jens Lekman meets Adam Green. Kinda.
