The Revenge of the Book Eaters Tour Part Deux.

August 15, 2007
This is going to be a great one - the Revenge of the Book Eaters is back! If you were lucky enough to attend the event's inaugural run in NYC last year (it also ran in five other cities) you were treated to a duet by Sufjan Stevens and David Byrne, a wonderful talk by Dave Eggers, and jokes courtesy of Jon Stewart. But like Mark McGwire says, we're not here to talk about the past. The 2007 version of Revenge of the Book Eaters is back, and it's bigger and badder than ever!

It's not often you can see performances by indie all-stars like A.C. Newman (of The New Pornographers), Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), Britt Daniel (of Spoon), Feist and Grizzly Bear all on the same bill. But at the Beacon Theatre (yes, they do put on good ones every now and then) on Sunday, August 26th, you'll also see readings by This American Life's commentator, Sarah Vowell, and the evening is hosted by another The Daily Show funny dude, Demetri Martin.

And this just keeps getting better because, like last year, the whole night benefits 826NYC, a nonprofit organization run by the McSweeney's crew. 826NYC provides writing help and support for students from the ages of 6 to 18. (In fact, Revenge of the Book Eaters was named after a story by an 826NYC student.) So you can rock out to subtle-bubblegum pop (courtesy of A.C.), countrified-pop (courtesy of Jim), seductive pop (courtesy of Feist) and fanciful-folk-pop (courtesy of Grizzly Bear), all with the satisfaction of knowing that you're supporting a great cause.

As we say, this is going to be a great one.

The Revenge of The Book Eaters takes place at the Beacon Theatre, on Sunday, August 26th.
