These Are The Best Wind Songs of All Time

I don't know why I made this either. I guess it's because it was windy out. And that made me think of good songs about the wind. But who know what goes on up there. Anyway, maybe someone is going to search for "Best Wind Songs" someday.

Cat Stevens - The Wind
That guitar. That guitar gets. me. every. time.

Especially when it's used in this scene. "Take dictation, please." That's the moment.

Donovan - Catch the Wind

No. I don't care if it was used in a car commercial. It's an amazing song. And yes, yes. I've seen the scene in "Don't Look Back" when Dylan supposedly one-ups him. Not so sure that's what was happening there. But I digress. There were at least two different versions of this song recorded.

There’s this one.

And there’s this one. What do you think? (I like them both.)

Kansas - Dust in the Wind

Because it’s true. That’s all we are (as the INTENSE video above certainly demonstrates in a roundabout sort of way). And that doesn’t have to be depressing news. Songs that are excellent for singing in the shower can’t be made up of nothing but sadness. Can they? Man, maybe they can. I recently read the lyrics (I don't know why) to Whitney Houston's ridiculously catchy "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." Sheesh. Somebody should have danced with that woman.

Vince Guaraldi Trio - Cast Your Fate to the Wind

Yeah. Fine. The Snoopy guy. If that's how we're remembering him. This is sublime. Vince and Kansas could’ve been solid bros. Maybe they were.

Bob Dylan - Blowin’ in the Wind

I mean, of course. Of course.

Pavement - Roll With The Wind

Not really. I just kind of wanted to put it in here.

So there you have it.

Sure, I considered “Candle in the Wind.” Yeah. It’s got a good melody. I guess I need to give it that. But I just can’t get past the massive malaise that song gives me. And I’m not even talking about the remake for Princess Di either. Massive malaise.

Also, if anyone but Bette Midler sang “Wind Beneath My Wings” and anyone but Celine Dion had covered it, I might have included that. Probably not though.

Wait. Before you go. One more.

Wing Songs - Marilyn Bliss

I have no idea what this is. But I am mesmerized. And now I'm pretty sure I want to be a Wind Talker.
