Purity Ring: perfectly crafted staggering synths.

October 21, 2011
Purity Ring features members (Corin Roddick and Megan James) of Gobble Gobble. And that's all the info we needed to know to give this a listen. We haven't been shy about how much we like Gobble Gobble. But that fact is not what kept us coming back to Purity Ring for listens #2 and #3 and #4 and, well, you know how high numbers go.

Purity Ring creates great dub-step-y electro with lots of samples and lots and lots of super melodic hitches and machine made catchy glitches. Their most talked about jam of the moment is "Ungirthed," so start your listen there. In it, singer Megan James' perfectly sweet soprano acts as a nice and unexpected contrast to that song's staggered synth breakdowns. It's perfectly crafted and, well, just darn good stuff (language, Rockness, language!).

I can't wait for this crew's full-length to come out and, more importantly, for a big time Purity Ring tour to come my way.

Purity Ring plays with Neon Indian + Com Truise, at Webster Hall, on Friday, October 21st, and also tonight, at Mercury Lounge.
