Caveman - Oh My Rockness

Band We Like

Caveman

October 19, 2011
Brooklyn's Caveman is one of those bands that just sound nice. You listen to their songs and think, "This sounds nice." I don't mean "nice" in a vanilla way either. I mean a "nice" in the "nice is what runs a civilized society" sort of way. Nice is everything, after all. Anyway, I digress.

Caveman is CERTAINLY pop music. You can't be this catchy and not be called pop. It's just not possible. The only question is what sub-genre of pop Cavemen falls into. Not that that even matters, but hey I gotta write about something here!

It would be easy to say this is "sun-drenched" pop. Is that a sub genre? Sure. You can also call this "breezy" pop. If things want to get really crazy, I could call it "chill" pop, but that term makes me die a little bit inside. And death is NOT nice. Let's just stick with "sun-drenched" and not over-think things too much. It's better that way.

Hey, if you like these bands you might also like Caveman: Fleet Foxes, The Shins, My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses and, well, you get it. Cavemen make music that makes me feel good inside. It almost makes me feel... nice. See them.

Caveman plays tonight, October 19th, at Santos Party House and Canal Room.
