Blood on the Wall should be scrubbed right away using bleach and a splash of lemon juice

October 12, 2005
Vice magazine gave Blood on the Wall's first album a 10 out of 10. Their latest is self-described by the band as, "Awesomer," and it's certainly that. So I guess Vice will have to give this one an 11. These up-and-comers play dance hooks with crunchy guitars to create an oddly wonderful world where everyone is a happy drunk and the L train runs every two minutes, around the clock.

Guitarist/vocalist Brad Shanks is the brother of bassist/vocalist Courtney Shanks. Awwww. Drummer/vocalist Miggy Littleton has played in Ida, The Shit, and White Magic. Together, they create schizophrenic songs that are shaky and spastic, heartfelt and warm. Lately, their guitars have been swirling more, reminding one of "Psychocandy" sweetness and other "wall of noise" acts.

Despite their gory name, Blood on the Wall doesn't want to hurt you. They want to get wasted with you, dance with you, and have you leave their show with a big grin on your face.

Blood on the Wall play Sunday, October 16th, at Soundbox (9th Annual DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival)
