20 Great Shows To See in NYC This Week

February 20th - February 26th 2017 A.D.

1. Homeshake play two shows at Baby's All Right on Tuesday, February 21st (tickets / tickets), at Sunnyvale on Wednesday, February 22nd (tickets) and Silent Barn on Thursday, February 23rd (tickets).

Damnnnnn, Homeshake. Four shows in NYC this week? Just take over our city, why don't you.

No. Seriously. Please take it over. It would be fun to be ruled by sexy beats.

RIYL: Montreal / Bagels

2. Olympia's Naomi Punk play The Park Church Co-Op on Tuesday, February 21st (tickets).

Naomi Punk play punk. Nobody in this DIY band is named Naomi.

RIYL: Captured Tracks / Pizza

3. Ron Gallo plays Baby's All Right on Thursday, February 23rd (tickets).

Ron Gallo and his band play rock and roll. That's how Nashville do*.

This dude and his crew = dirty yelp-y thunderous good shit. Think (someone who slays) meets (someone who shreds) meets (Ron Gallo) and you should be on the right track.

*Wikipedia tells me Nashville also dabbles in country music which is news to me

RIYL: ____ / _____

4. Hamilton Leithauser (of The Walkmen) plays two shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday, February 23rd and Friday, February 24th, and Bowery Ballroom on Saturday, February 25th (tickets).

All three of these shows are sold-out (because Hamilton Leithauser rules) but you can still try and get some tickets here if you really want to go and why wouldn't you.

RIYL: Going To Good Shows / This Walkmen Deep Cut JAM

5. Japandroids play Terminal 5 on Thursday, February 23rd.

The new Japandroids album is dope. Sounds like Japandroids meets Japandroids.

RIYL: Older Than You Ever Were / The Youngest You'll Ever Be

6. Vagabon plays Baby's All Right on Friday, February 24th (tickets).

The super talented singer / writer / producer / multi-instrumentalist Laetitia Tamko is Vagabon. The NYC artist creates strong pop songs. Sometimes they're quiet. Sometimes they're punk.

RIYL: Melody / This Fantastic Album

7. Jeff the Brotherhood play Sunnyvale on Friday, February 24th (tickets).

This boss Nashville band could probably be playing Terminal 5 or some place huge too, but no, instead they'll be shredding at little old loveable Sunnyvale.

As of this writing tickets were somehow still available to this. Better grab them while you can. This intimate show will rule your face.

RIYL: Siblings / Sweaty Shows

8. Monsterland play Mercury Lounge on Friday, February 24th (tickets).

An underrated “Superchunk-ian" band from the '90s, Monsterland is back….at least for this show anyway.

RIYL: Crunches / Connecticut

9. Indie Pop Prom at Brooklyn Night Bazaar on Saturday, February 25th (tickets).

This year's Indie Pop Prom is a real good one. It always is, but this year especially!

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart + Sad13 + Sports + Half Waif + T-Rextasy are playing and they all rule.

Please note: I'll be chilling on the wall near the punch bowl worrying about my future and my tie and not having any friends, just like real prom.

Come hang out!

RIYL: Corsages / Cumberbuns

10. Run the Jewels the play four shows at Terminal 5 on February 25th, February 26th, February 27th and March 1st.

All of these shows might be sold-out by the time you read this (because Run the Jewels rule and their flow really capture the fire of our times) but please remember ----> 'where there's a will - there's a pay.'

These beats don't play.

RIYL: THIS CLASSIC COMPANY FLOW (EL-P) CUT FROM BACK IN THE DAY

Rounding Out The Top Twenty
