Here are 10 dope shows you can/should see in NYC this week.

(listed by date / #10 is just as good as #1 / forever and ever / amen)

Hope you go to some of them. You deserve nice things.

Please note: Thursday seems to be the big show day so be sure to keep that night open.

10 Great Shows To See in NYC This Week

February 6th - February 12th 2017 A.D.

1. Ne-Hi play a free show at Baby's All Right on Monday, February 6th.

"One thing I don't mind not paying for is a good free show." - Oh My Rockness

Ne-Hi are a hazy rock band from Chicago that make dream grooves while zipping along on the psych train.

You might want to start your week as chill as possible by going to see them play Baby's for free. Or, stream some dumb show on your couch. Whatevs. It's all fine.

RIYL: Twin Peaks - the show or the band (whichever comparison is right for you)

2. Allison Crutchfield & the Fizz play Sunnyvale on Thursday, February 9th (tickets).

Have you heard Allison Crutchfield's new album? It's fantastic.

You should listen to it right now. Forget reading the rest of this really great feature. This is better, TBH.

3. Bob Mould plays City Winery on Thursday, February 9th (tickets) and Friday, February 10th (tickets).

Please enjoy listening to one of the greatest (Top 5) poppy rock songs ever.

25 years old this year.

Still. Holds. Up.

P.S. you should go see Bob Mould (he was in Sugar, BTW) play City Winery -- either show he's playing there is fine -- you pick.

4. Jerry Seinfeld does two more shows at Beacon Theater on Thursday, February 9th.

What's the deal with spelling it both 'theater' and 'theatre?" Can't we all agree to just pick a spelling for this thing and stick with it? One spelling is all that's needed! One spelling!

It appears both of these shows are sold-out but tickets can still be had if you don't mind refinancing something.

5. Sleigh Bells in conversation with Song Exploder host Hrishikesh Hirway at Merkin Concert Hall on Thursday, February 9 (tickets).

This live podcast taping is part of the Ecstatic Music Festival -- the always-solid annual celebration of eclectic music at Kaufman Center up near Lincoln Center. Check out all the peeps participating in this goodness between now and May.

6. +/- (aka Plus Minus) / Jason Lowenstein (of Sebadoh) play Union Pool on Friday, February 10th (tickets).

+/- have been a good band forever (2001 A.D. might as well be). If you never got into their plugged-in math pop (because life just got in the way these past 16 years or whatever) please remember the Golden Rule here at Oh My Rockness:

It's never too late to get into somebody good.

P.S. Jason Lowenstein is playing this show too and he's in legendary indie / college / lo-fi band Sebadoh, NBD)

7. Sammus & more good artists / bands at Brooklyn Night Bazaar on Saturday, February 11th (tickets).

Solid lineup of up-and-coming rising buzziness (Sammus! Free Cake For Every Creature! Yohuna! More!) at this all-around dope show.

Come for the hip-hop. Stay for the keys. Sweat the indie pop in between.

8. Suuns play two shows at Saint Vitus Bar on Saturday, February 11th (tickets / tickets).

Weirdo Montreal band Suuns (it's a Secretly Canadian thang) play two shows at Saint Vitus and both might already be sold-out. I don't know. Art punk is pretty big business these days. Please check before leaving for the venue.

RIYL: electronics, beats, grooves, dreams, transcendence

9. Antarctigo Vespucci play Villain on Saturday, February 11th (tickets).

Antartigo Vespucci = Chris Farren & Jeff Rosenstock.

They play power pop.

Cool?

Cool.

10. Chris Gethard does two free shows at Tribeca Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 11th (RSVP).

I would pay to see Chris Gethard tell jokes.

But I'm not going to.

Because both of these shows are free.

OTHER NOTABLE SHOWS: Joyce Manor at Amityville Music Hall (LI) + Lady Lamb at Knitting Factory + White Denim at Brooklyn Bowl + Black Marble at Brooklyn Night Bazaar (or Monty Hall Jersey City) + Sampha at Terminal 5 + Drive-By Truckers at Webster Hall.
