There are a bunch of good shows happening in NYC this week.

Can we talk about a few of them?

Say nothing and I'll proceed.

Jank play Shea Stadium and this band be DANK.

Other notable Monday shows = just go see Jank

Tuesday - August 23, 2016 A.D.

Rising buzzy indie rocker Bruce Springsteen plays DIY co-op art space MetLife Stadium tonight (and Thursday too). Remember this dude's name.

Black Sabbath play PNC Bank Arts Center. Two things. One, this band is going to do be big: bet. Two, for my money there's absolutely nothing better than seeing a show at a venue named after a bank.

UB40 play Terminal 5 and even if I never hear that song “Red Red Wine" again it will still be too soon. Let's play it right now!

Holy shit that song gives me the howling fantods.

Other notable Tuesday shows = Bambara at Aviv + Katie Ellen at Shea Stadium

Wednesday - August 24, 2016 A.D.

Weaves play a free (early) show at Rough Trade and I'd pay to see this good band. I'm not going to - but I would. Hope u remember that, man.

CRX is Nick from The Strokes' new band. They play their NYC debut at Mercury Lounge. I saw their first ever live show last week in LA and not to lean too heavily on the hyperbole but it was totally fine. See u there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hairs play Sunnyvale. Have you listened to this good band's latest album? You should. But only if you like listening to good albums. If you like listening to bad albums or even whatever albums this wouldn't be the album for you.

Other notable Wednesday shows = Xeno & Oaklander at Baby's + Cayetana at Mercury Lounge + Wet at National Sawdust + Milemarker at Shea Stadium

Thursday - August 25, 2016 A.D.

Tonight is (le) poisson rouge's regular On the Rise night and Half Waif is playing it. Please note: Half Waif is a good band.

30-somethings of a certain musical temperament might be excited that late '90s / early '00s Chapel Hill / Chicago post ____ band Milemarker has reunited and is playing Saint Vitus tonight (they play Shea Stadium this week too). It's a Jade Tree thang.

The Forms play a free show at The Footlight (w/ Phone Home) in Ridgewood and this would be a good opportunity to remind you how good this album was/is. Has it really been 14 years? Damn, time! Why u slip so much!

And LE1F plays Rough Trade. Damn, son.

Other notable Thursday shows = Julie Klausner at The Bell House + Moon Hooch at Music Hall of Williamsburg + Bruce Springsteen (remember his name) at MetLife Stadium + Weaves & Cayetana at Baby's

Friday - August 26, 2016 A.D.

There's a solid fest in New Jersey today/tonight at the Montclair Women's Club w/ Pinegrove and Half Waif and a bunch more bands. It wouldn't be the wrong call to go to this, unless you live really far from Montclair, then it might be the wrong call, but not because of the bands or the fest or anything, just because when you travel great distances sometimes unfortunate things can happen, like what if there's a traffic jam or the trains aren't running and well there's just a whole host of things that can go wrong it might be better to just stay on your couch and wait to die.

Sannhet play Alphaville. Please note: this band rules.

Somos play The Studio at Webster Hall and this was one of my very favorite albums of 2014 A.D. and I still return to it plenty.

Other notable Friday shows = Porches at a Secret Location (some contest thing whatevs) + Evan Dando at City Winery + Prophets of Rage playing a venue named after a bank

Saturday - August 27, 2016 A.D.

Afropunk is today/tonight in Commodore Barry Park (tomorrow too) and, like every year, it's going to be good. TV on the Radio + Tyler, The Creator + Flying Lotus + Downtown Boys + all sorts of chill peeps are playing. It's the #1 most popular upcoming show on the entire blob! You should go to this. And I should mind my own business.

Reggie Watts headlines two shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg. HA HA!

Jason Loewenstein of Sebadoh plays Union Pool and if u don't like Sebadoh I just don't know, man……..I just don't know.

DJ Paypal headlines MoMA PS 1's second to last Warm Up of the summer. Sic Transit Gloria. Mono No Aware. Dust in the wind, dudes.

Other notable Saturday shows = The Dresden Dolls in Coney Island + Flume at Forest Hills Stadium + Navy Gangs at Baby's All Right
