"You're a rich girl…."

Just kid! That's just a little joke for the 13 regular readers of this thing. I wouldn't make this really great weekly feature all about Hall & Oates two weeks in a row.

(or, would I………………….?)

Let's talk about some good shows happening this weekend.

I'll see you at all of them.

Just kid!

Thursday - February 25, 2016 A.D.

Remember when I said Pill was our "Hardest Working Band of 2015?" Well, Sunflower Bean (playing Bowery Ballroom tonight) was our #1 "Hardest Working Band of 2014." You see? Everything's connected, man. Also, Sunflower Bean's new album is really good and with their tireless work ethic (coupled with talent) they deserve all their success. Amen?

If you want to see four good punk(ish)(y) bands all in one place then go to Shea Stadium and settle in for the long haul because LVL UP + Potty Mouth + Stove (ex-OVLOV) + Cende (fka Downies) area all playing. File Under: Good Good Good and Good

Black Sabbath play Madison Square Garden (and Saturday too). Fun true story: my dad works security at the United Center in Chicago and was in the dressing room with the band when they played there a few weeks ago. He said the entire time before the show Ozzy and the other band members didn't speak to or acknowledge each other once. Rock 'n' roll, man. (for the really great story of how my dad saw The Beatles live in concert 50 years ago please read this)

Other notable Thursday shows = The Men at Palisades + EZTV at the Levi's Store (free) + The Big Pink at Baby's All Right

Iron Chic is one of the most fun bands playing the game today. Boom for real. If you like the punk rock there's little chance you won't love them tonight at Aviv. But the goodness doesn't start and end with The Chic. Worriers also plays. And Soda Bomb too. Damn. Good. Good. Good.

It's the annual Indie Pop Prom at Market Hotel tonight w/ Allison Crutchfield + eskimeaux + WALL + Pouty. This will be GOOD and FUN. Let me know what you're wearing so I can get myself a stylin' boutonniere for my cardigan sweater that's color coordinated with your outfit and also do you like Baby's Breath?

Post ___ drone doomers Jesu and singer/songwriter/malcontent Sun Kil Moon co-headline Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight. Weird.

Other notable Friday shows = Alex G at Stevens Institute of Technology + Total Slacker at The Gateway (Bernie Sanders Benefit) + Jawbreaker Reunion at Shea Stadium + Operator Music Band at Palisades + Jason Isbell at Beacon Theater

Ty Segall & The Muggers play Emmanuel Lewis Hall (tomorrow too) and I see a bunch of you have this one saved. Makes sense. He's GOOD. Thank you for using your "My Rockness" account to save stuff like this, BTW. We built it from scratch for you and the only thing we get out of it is the satisfaction that it's being used to see sick shows like this one. Amen? You bet! And how!

It's DFA Records Winter Hot Dog No 1 RAGER tonight at Good Room w/ DJ sets by the DFA Family and a "special live guests." Who could it be? If you guess LCD you're probably wrong but please note I have no idea. No matter what secrets are revealed this one will be FUN. And isn't that what this is all about, dear Rockness reader? Fun? Can u still feel the butterflies??????

MS MR + San Fermin + YACHT play a secret venue and if they don't announce the location soon this show will feel so intimate it'll feel like nobody's there!

Update: the venue has been announced - PHEW

Baths play Baby's All Right. He's GOOD. Deradoorian opens. She's GOOD.

Naughty by Nature celebrate 25 years at Webster Hall.

Not gonna go to this show? Not a shame…a PROBLEM.

Other notable Saturday shows = Mass Gothic at Palisades + The Big Pink at (le) poisson rouge + Future at Hammerstein + B-52s at The Capitol Theatre + Baked at Shea Stadium
