I've listened to a lot of new music this year and most of it was fine. Not great. Not terrible. Fine. Some music I listened to sucked, for sure. But I just turned those songs off. No big deal. No harm. No foul.
And then there were the songs I listened to that I loved. I'd like to talk to you about those songs now.
The following are my 15 favorite jams of 2015. They are listed in no particular order. I love them all equally. They are all my songs.
The Best Songs of 2015
The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die - “January 10, 2014"
This almost six minute song from this very fine Connecticut band has everything, man. Emo. Punk. Math Rock. Pop. It's all here. Here what you're gonna hear. Dueling male/female vocals soar over pretty melodies that (spoiler) soon shall explode. I'm not going to tell you when. Just wait for it. Wait for it all. There are so many moving parts to this song you're going to have to just see how it plays out and when it's all said and done I bet you feel something and isn't it nice you can still do that? Also (and you can totally quote me on this) “January 10, 2014" is the best song based on a This American Life podcast EVER.
