Let's talk about the good shows happening this weekend.

This has been a really good intro.

Thursday - July 30, 2015 A.D.

Sunflower Bean play Rough Trade (win tickets). This band is dope. Listen to this dope song if you don't believe me and next time you might find it in your heart to trust me.

Shoe swirl goth pop gaze ragers Weekend play Shea Stadium and if my calculations are correct (and sometimes they are) this will be their first NYC show in over a year. File Under: a good band. #shoe #swirl #goth #pop #gaze #ragers

Primus and Dinosaur Jr play Pier 97 and I only like one of those two bands but if this was baseball I'd be hitting .500 and unstoppable, basically, so it must come recommended. Opening is The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger aka Sean Lennon's band and his dad was somebody but I forget who.

We Were Promised Jetpacks play Mercury Lounge. This show was one of those last minute intimate announcements. If you're into that kind of thing.

Finally. Bone-Bone-Bone-Bone Bone Bone Bone Bone Bone now tell me what you gonna do (when they're ain't no where to run) when judgement comes for you (when judgement comes for you) now tell me what you gonna do (when they're ain't no where to run) when judgement comes for you (cause it's gonna come for you)

….skips song to this part...

I MISS MY UNCLE CHARLES, Y'ALL.

Other notable shows = U2 (que?) at Madison Square Garden + The Hairs at The Gutter + ONWE at Palisades + Ben Browning (of Cut Copy) at (le) poisson rouge

Friday - July 31st, 2015 A.D.

Cayucas play Bowery Ballroom and did you know this Santa Monica band used to be called Oregon Bike Trails or that they were from Santa Monica? Me neither. Anyway, this one is a Secretly Canadian thang. Hibou opens. <------- I totally wrote kind words about Hibou before.

Chicago's Veruca Salt (they're from the '90s!) play Webster Hall. You perhaps know them by their hit song "Seether" but you should really start looking into exploring some of their deep cuts. In summation, here's the video for Veruca Salt's hit song "Seether." It's from the '90s!

The dudes behind FIXED have been putting on quality monthly dance shows for over a decade and they're at it again tonight at Output w/ live sets by Fort Romeau + Erol Alkan + a DJ set by the dudes themselves, JDH & Dave P (win tickets).

Other notable shows = Manatree at Aviv + Chain and the Gang at BSP + U2 (who?) at Madison Square Garden + Big K.R.I.T. at Prospect Park Bandshell (free) + R. Ring (featuring Kelley Deal of The Breeders) at The Bell House + Soft Circle at Trans-Pecos

Saturday - August 1st, 2015 A.D.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (I think I've heard of them) and Teen Men (click to read my kind thoughts about Teen Men) play Bowery Ballroom (and tomorrow too). Before blobbing full-time I used to work at Insound and I remember in 2005 when we were flooded with requests for CYHSY's first album and we fulfilled the thousands of them directly in our little shitty office to the best of our abilities. This great story sponsored by the letter D, I, and Y.

Really good Melbourne synth gloom punksters Total Control came all the way from the other side of the world to play for you at Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight so the least you could do is show up and please get there early in order to see Sannhet because their beautifully brutal music is really good too.

It's the annual Full Moon Fest at new venue Brooklyn Mirage, although technically the full moon is one night earlier on July 31st but we're not here to quibble about lunar shit we're here to have a good time and dance to a whole bunch of bands. This starts at 4 PM and rages well into the morning and should be pretty bright. (win tickets)

The annual Out in the Streets Fest is also today (and tomorrow) at a place I'm always thrilled to give a crack at spelling every year, The Vander Ende-Onderdonk House. That's in Ridgewood. I know because I remember looking it up last year in prep for this dynamic digital article. I blob harder. Bands playing this two day thing = Mr. Twin Sister (just added!) + Air Waves + Wild Yaks + Total Slacker + lots. Let's not get into here you should just view the complete lineup on our blob and I should just mind my own business.

Other notable shows = Duran Duran at The Capitol Theatre + Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin at The Studio at Webster Hall + Weird Al Yankovic at The Paramount + Lazyeyes/The Teen Age/Dead Stars at Rough Trade + Star Slinger at Output + MoMA PS 1 Summer Warm Up + X at City Winery

Sunday - August 2nd, 2015 A.D.

Super solid folkster rockster Alex G plays a free show (with RSVP) at Brooklyn Flea at 50 Kent today. I always post the same years-old Alex G song after I say nice things about Alex G on my blob because it's a really good song and I don't give a __________. (blank = fuck)

Smooth synthster slinger Rush Midnight (aka Russ Manning) plays Mercury Lounge and there will be big time beats so prepare yourself accordingly.

Duran Duran (they're from the '80s!) play The Capitol Theatre. Wait, I think this is my favorite Duran Duran song, actually, and it came out in the '90s so it's one of their "newer" hits.

When a digital article ends with a Duran Duran song from 1993 it's gotta be good!

Other notable shows = Out in the Streets Fest Day #2 at The Vander Ende-Onderdock House + ASTR at The Surf Lodge + X at City Winery + Miguel at Terminal 5
