Alright. This is a good week. It's Northside Fest this weekend but there are some other fine shows before that, all courageous and valiant and true. So stick with me and we'll get to the festival business in a bitttttttt.

Also, you should check our Guide to Free Summer Shows This Summer and I should mind my own business.

The Best Shows This Week. Watch me for the changes. Try and keep up.

Monday - June 8th, 2015 A.D.

ONWE play Cake Shop. I wrote kind words about this fine eccentro-pop band recently. That's why their name is linked like that. Feel free to click it and read more about ONWE. Here are some streams. Welcome to Costco. I luv U.

Calexico play Bowery Ballroom and this Tuscon, Arizona* band has been around seemingly forever (what was 1995 even LIKE, mannn). Let's give mad props for this band being able to be a band for twenty years and a good one at that. Ready. 1-2-3. MAD PROPS!

*"Could you make the order out to Ready Demolition, Tucson, Arizona?"

WNYC'S Ask Me Another (part comedy, part musical revue, part pub trivia night) is at The Bell House tonight with special guest Kevin Corrigan, star of Andrew Bujalski's new movie "Results." I really want to see that. Originally, co-star Cobie Smulders was also supposed to participate too but I think she bailed because she's not being billed on this anymore. Just keeping you in the loop. Here's the trailer for "Results." Did I mention I really want to see this?

Other notable shows = Wyatt Cenac at Littlefield + Temples at Music Hall of Williamsburg + Mini Mansions at Rough Trade

Tuesday - June 9th, 2015 A.D.

The Vaccines and Drowners play Warsaw in Greenpoint. Two big sounding bands. One big sounding time. Here's to jingle. Here's to jangle. Pop. Hop. Pep. Step. Forever and Ever. Amen.

Bad Religion and Plague Vendor play Music Hall of Williamsburg (and a bunch more times this week). Remember when I put this Plague Vendor song on my favorite songs of 2014 list because I do, I was there, man. Bam. Buh-Buh-Buh-Bam. Buh-Boom-Bam.

The Black Keys play iHeartRadio Theater but it's one of those gimmicky “enter for the chance to RSVP to maybe gain entry" type of things and I hesitate to bring it up for that reason. Anyway, here's that hot album from 2011 and I've heard some of these songs on someone else's radio while I was doing other things so I'm not sweating it either.

Dave Hill is at The Bell House tonight doing something or another and this video I've sourced and posted for you below (awww!) is really f&#*ing funny pardon my fucking fr#$ch and you should watch it if a bit of British jolly brings you a spot of joy.

Other notable shows = Ava Luna at Aviv + Son Lux at Bowery Ballroom + Prism House at Silent Barn + The Maccabees at (le) poisson rouge

Wednesday - June 10th, 2015 A.D.

Belle & Sebastian and Real Estate at Radio City Music Hall and man it seems like we first listed this show FOREVER ago. It's seriously been at least six months. I remember because when I listed it I thought that June 10th, 2015 A.D. seemed like a distant dream. And yet, here we are. And yet...

Buffalo's Del Paxton play Silent Barn (Safety headlines) and I really like this noodle-y old school true school new school emo math rock band. If you like Braid you might enjoy going to see them play and having a good time and trying to make better band comparisons than mine.

Chomp play Palisades tonight (and tomorrow at Cake Shop) and if you click their name you'll see that back in 2012 I said they made happy nostalgic rock for angry people or angry nostalgic rock for happy people and then I said this band also features two members of Cloud Nothings and then I said a bunch of other stuff and just blobbed on and on and on forever endless.

Other notable shows = Bad Religion at Music Hall of Williamsburg + Such Hounds at The Grand Victory

Thursday - June 11th, 2015 A.D.

Northside Fest begins and most of the shows that I blob about from here on out are going to be affiliated with that fine festival but I'll be damned if I'm going to tell you that every single time. If you really want to know, you can go to our Guide to Northside. If it's on that list - it's a Northside show - if it's not - it's not - or we just forgot to tag it as such - DIY.

HEALTH play Baby's All Right and this is the first NYC show for this fantastic L.A. noise band in almost three years. Something always happens at a HEALTH show. I highly suggest you be there for it. And if you don't wear earplugs you're being too cavalier. Way too cavalier.

Caveman play Cameo Gallery and they have been playing perfectly pleasant pop for years now as time continues to play tricks on us all. Speaking of pop and Caveman, did you know that the jingle for Flintstones vitamins has been stuck on my head since I was like eight? I shit you not. It's a big time jam.

"...and growing!"

Luna recently reunited and play McCarren Park tonight. This one is FREE w/ RSVP and as of this writing (10:17 AM in the Year That's I'm Writing This A.D.) there is still time to get in on this good thing. #deanwareham #galaxie500 #brittaphillips #jem #trulytrulytrulyoutrageous

Lower Dens play Music Hall of Williamsburg and below is a really good song but I prefer to live in NYC.

Other notable shows = Sinkane at 501 Union Street + Bad Religion at Bowery Ballroom + PC Worship at Palisades + Jacco Gardner at Saint Vitus + Future Punx at Silent Barn + The Very Best at S.O.B.'s

SEE ALL OF OUR THURSDAY PICKS

Friday - June 12th, 2015 A.D.

The Bayonet Records showcase at Rough Trade tonight is real good. Beach Fossils + Frankie Cosmos + Jerry Paper + Warehouse play and I like all those bands. That's why they're linked like that. Please note: if you click the Beach Fossils one I'm sorry the words I wrote are now 5 years old. Consider it a time capsule.

Neko Case + Rhye + Majical Cloudz play 50 Kent and speaking of 5 years old, please enjoy this Neko Case song she performed on The David Letterman show. Remember him? That name sure is a blast from the past!

Ex Hex play Music Hall of Williamsburg and you like Mary Timony's music, right? OK. Cool. I was just making sure.

Alden Penner (of The Unicorns) and Michael Cera get Canadian at Knitting Factory.

I hope Michael Cera performs this song because it's a hit.

Other notable shows = Tyler, The Creator at Irving Plaza + The Very Best at McCarren Park + Skaters at Polish National Church + Fred Thomas at Saint Vitus + Jaymay at Rockwood Music Hall + Wild Yaks at The Grand Victory + Dead Stars at The Gutter + Ben Nichols (of Lucero) at The Shop + JEFF the Brotherhood at The Wick

SEE ALL OF OUR FRIDAY PICKS

Saturday - June 13th, 2015 A.D.

Best Coast + Built to Spill + Alvvays + Bully play at 50 Kent. That's a good show!

DJ Premier play Brooklyn Bowl and his beats are my favorite hip-hop beats of all time. Without a doubt. They don't make 'em like they used to, man.

Against Me! play McCarren Park and this one (like Luna earlier this week) is also FREE w/ RSVP. It was also recently announced that Mitski and Cayetana will be joining in on this goodness. That's three good bands for one no price.

Blonde Redhead play Warsaw. The venerable indie rock veterans. The stalwarts. The brick. The mortar. The boat. The big fish in this small sea of space and time.

Also. Air Supply play Town Hall and I know I know I know but this is a GREAT pop song and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.

"I can make all the stadiums rock!"

Other notable shows = Lucius at Prospect Park + Xiu Xiu at Palisades + Viet Cong at Music Hall of Williamsburg + PINS at Rough Trade + The Menzingers at BSP + Pusha T at House of Vans (free) + Blues Control at Union Pool (free) + DJ Solange at The Surf Lodge + Blanck Mass at Saint Vitus

SEE ALL OF OUR SATURDAY PICKS

Sunday - June 14th, 2015 A.D.

Oh My Rockness (that's us) + DULL TOOLS are teaming up (!) for a Northside Show at Cameo Gallery with Future Punx + Pill + Waltz + What Moon Things + Jackson Scott + Pink Mexico. This is going to be a good show. You should come hang. And I should mind my own business.

Run the Jewels + Vince Staples + Sleigh Bells play 50 Kent. Cool.

Alvvays at The Surf Lodge. That's in Montauk. I've never been there. Neat.

Brooklyn Beefsteak is at The Bell House and if you haven't read anything I've written to you today please at least read Joseph Mitchell's old New Yorker story about going to be a beefsteak because it's great.

Other notable shows = Viet Cong and Sannhet at Girl Band at Music Hall of Williamsburg + Zola Jesus at Warsaw + LE1F at Brooklyn Bowl + Dead Stars and more good bands at Union Pool + Bad Religion at Starland Ballroom + Ricky Eat Acid at Baby's All Right + The Sun Ra Arkestra at Rough Trade
