((Turnip King)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Written by Patrick McNamara

Turnip King is a band from Long Island (Sea Cliff) that plays swirly psych rock. You can call it shoegaze if you want. I don't care.

Here's the rub. They're good.

Since forming sometime circa 2011 A.D. this crew of four (Lucia! Christian! Cal! Ken!) have played a BUNCH of shows in / on / around NYC (we've listed over 100 of them on this very blob over the years - not kidding - I totally just counted) and have released a smattering of solid sound offerings which you may enjoy here and here (this one's about Donald "Turd King" Trump) and here and here and, well, you get the idea.

They're working hard out there!

But with the pending release of their full-length debut album “Laika" (on Fire Talk Records) and a big time tour to go along with it, it appears Turnip King is finally ready to elevate their game and bring their swirly psych rock jams (see also: shoegaze) to even more fine people throughout this fair land.

This is their moment. Stakes is high.

You may now love listening to some solid jams from their LP debut below.

And go see them play. After 100+ shows in / on / around NYC alone they pretty much know what they're doing up there.
