((The Menzingers)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Written by Patrick McNamara
Sure. I’ll write about The Menzingers. Why the hell not? I’ll tell you why the hell not. Because I should’ve done so 3 years ago. That’s why. But I didn’t. I guess I was just too busy - you know - living my life. But it’s never too late to meditate on the goodness. And The Menzingers are indeed good.
The Menzingers are Scranton men who presumably like Zingers.* I don’t fault them for that. But I got dibs on raspberry. They also like writing completely catchy (yet muscular) pop punk that’s gotten pretty popular. Relatively speaking. They may have sold out a place like Bowery Ballroom but they have yet to be firm-but-fair judges on a network television karaoke program. So let’s not call The Menzingers emerging or up-and-coming anymore. But let’s also not call them kings.
The four confectionary loving lads have recorded several albums over the years. And 2012’s “On the Impossible Past” is my favorite. It has lots of songs about waitresses and smoke breaks. As of this writing (2:40pm on April 1st in the Year of the Tucks Medicated Pad**) The Menzingers are about to release a new record called “Rented World” on Epitaph. I hear nice things. It features the song “I Don’t Want To Be An Asshole Anymore” which I have conveniently sourced and posted for you below. Definitely not a dick move on my part.
Anything else you want to know about The Menzingers or are we good like they’re good?
Your silence says “just let me play the damn song.”
Will do. You'll enjoy it. And if you don't - you're an asshole.
