((The Knife)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Swedish brother/sister duo The Knife like to rock the dark synth and sampled beats. Like, so dark they almost make you too depressed to dance. The gloominess that you can shake your gluteus maximus to has been described as sounding futuristic. Why is it that the future is always equated with dreariness? (I'm looking at you, Blade Runner.) Don't things ever get any better?

But moving on, The Knife are certainly treading new waters. M83 sort of does what they do, albeit with a little more hope. Karin Dreijer Anderson's delivery has often been compared to Bjork, but that's just because both are a little strange... in a good way. The sibs are friends with Jose Gonzalez (who covered one of their songs) but they sound nothing like that dude. Just listen for yourself to these big beats. You may be totally into it, or you may slowly back away.
