((The Forms)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness
To me, The Forms' name is highly ironic since most times, on stage and on record, they sound to my untrained ears like they have absolutely no form whatsoever. However a trusted musician friend of mine assures me that these guys know what they're doing. She said something about "crazy compound time signatures" or whatever. To tell you the truth I didn't really catch it all because my eyes were glazing over and drool was dripping down the side of my mouth. I was all like, "Look. I'm into rock 'n' roll, not math. You know I failed Algebra three times and, frankly, I think you brought all of this up to remind me of my shortcomings."
I won't go into details about the ensuing fight. We worked through it and everything is fine now. To smooth things over I even gave the album another listen. And when I really concentrated I think I could just make out those elusive "signatures." I mean, the mighty Steve Albini recorded their album so he must have heard The Forms form. So what do I know? You know what they say: those who can't do write band bios.
