((Spraynard)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Written by Patrick McNamara
Spraynard are a jubilant sing-song punk band from West Chester, PA. That town is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes from Philadelphia. But currentlly as of this writing, it’s 2 hours and 24 minutes due to traffic. Traffic is so not punk rock. Remaining chill when it's bumper-to-bumper is though.
2/3rds of this band (Pat on guitars/vocals! Mark on bass! Pat on drums/vocals) have the coolest name on the planet. And Mark’s a pretty chill name too. But this shouldn’t really be the entire reason why you like Spraynard. You should like Spraynard because they write good pop shred songs that will make you feel a little bit better about things. Bet.
Spraynard have been around for a few years. So maybe you already know them. But I’ve only come across them recently. So they're new to me. Should I have closed myself off from goodness just because I'm a day late and a buck short with this band? Hell, no. I need all the goodness this world's got.
Want to know how I stumbled across this band? It's a really super great story. Scanning the upcoming show listings on Whoa My Blobness (yeah - I use my own shit), I saw that they are playing a show with Iron Chic. And I thought, “Hmm. I really like Iron Chic. Perhaps I should check out this Spraynard situation as well.” I did. I liked. And that’s what happens when show booking is done right.
The following song is one of the happiest songs about aging and dying I know. Just listen to it and I do believe you’ll hear what I feel. In summation, please remember the golden rule. It’s never too late... to get into something good.
(P.S. if you want more Spraynard goodness than just this one good song - go ahead and stream their excellent full-length from wayyyyyy back in 2011 - a quaint and simpler time - when Thor and Kung Fu Panda 2 were transfixing the nation.)
