((Sam Champion)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Pavement and Fugazi are probably the two most-often-compared-to bands in the indie rock reviewing world. Like, "New local band, Mississippi Mud, mixes the post-hardcore punk of Fugazi with the lo-fi antics of Pavement." Referencing these two bands in reviews has gotten so ridiculous, that it really ceases to mean anything anymore. Now, most eyes just go glassy and gloss over the words whenever they come across the names Fugazi or Pavement.

But here's the thing with the NYC band Sam Champion... they REALLY sound like Pavement (they don't sound like Fugazi at all). I mean, it's not even that their sound is "heavily influenced" by Pavement. Their sound IS Pavement. Like, exactly. So if you like Pavement, you'll probably prefer to listen to Pavement, because, well, that's why they're Pavement. But if Pavement's discography managed to pass you by, well, then get into Sam Champion. You'll hear a whole new world you never knew existed 15 years ago.
