((Neon Canyon)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Lots of good electro coming out of Canada these days: Gobble Gobble, Memoryhouse, and now these guys. Calgary's Neon Canyon (a duo comprised of Mark Webber and Jon Sherman) play atmospheric electro-gaze-pop using some guitars, lots of synths, and undoubtedly some glitch-y laptop machines. They sound exactly how a band calling themselves Neon Canyon should sound.

This accessible experimental pop (if there is such a thing) is bright and echo-y and sometimes slightly lonesome and wistful. Their name covers all of those moods, right? The only more fitting moniker they could have settled on would be Dream Neon Canyon.

But maybe they didn't want to give EVERYTHING away right off the bat. Then what would music writers write about? They'd have to write about, I don't know, tacos or something. And really, what more can one say about tacos that hasn't already been said?

Neon Canyon is for fans of Teen Daze, MillionYoung, Keepaway and Active Child.
