((Mono)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Tokyo's Mono play intricate instrumental music that has been described as "the soundtrack to the end of the world" (that is, if you envision a mellow Armageddon). Mono's lush notes, deliberately paced and played, build to soaring climaxes. Their most recent album, Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky (recorded by Shellac-ster, Steve Albini), is an exercise in patience. However, if you allow yourself adequate time with Mono, your listen will ultimately be a rewarding and fulfilling one.

Their compositions may be subtle on disc, but don't think this band can't be loud on stage. In fact, they can be ear-splittingly loud in concert. Sure, it may take them a while to reach those destructive decibels, but they always reach them. Mono has been around for the better part of a decade and this experience truly shows in their skillfully composed songs.
