((Mogwai)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness
MORE BANDS WE LIKE >
Going to a Mogwai show reminds me of how I felt when I went to shows in high school. [Cut to me as a 17-year old, listening to the electric pulse of some emo band, and exclaiming with a transcendent shout, "Who cares what I got on the math test, life is bigger than grades, man!"] When Mogwai hits the distortion pedal mid-song and erupts into a fireball of emotion, I feel like I'm closer to knowing my place in this grand world (which obviously doesn't include math). You do not listen to Mogwai and say, "It's good." You say, "Everything once murky is now clear." Dramatic? Perhaps. Fiction? Well I suggest you go and find out for yourself. Stand really close to the stage and look directly into the beady eyes of the main guitarist as he lulls you before rearranging your soul with that distortion pedal and try and retain your cold heart. Go ahead, I dare you.
