((Hot Club De Paris)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

The first two bands that Liverpool's Hot Club De Paris cite as influences on their MySpace page are Cap'n Jazz and Don Caballero, which just so happen to be two of my very favorite bands of all time. But seriously, how amazing is that from a British band? I thought all U.K. bands just loved Gang of Four and Joy Division. That'll show me to believe in stupid stereotypes.

So, already, I wanted to like these guys, and after I listened to them, I liked these guys for more than just their inspirations. They're really good. This is poppy math-rock with catchy, topsy-turvy time signatures and pretty guitar melodies, all sung with a cool English accent. What more do you need? It's like 1994 all over again. Call me crazy, but I'd take 1994 over 1979 any day anyway.

Look out for their record on Moshi Moshi, one of my new favorite labels too (Lo-Fi-Fnk, Metronomy).
