((Girlpool)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Written by Patrick McNamara
Vocalist/bassist Harmony Tividad + vocalist/guitarist Cleo Tucker = Girlpool. No. They don’t have a drummer. It’s just the two of them and they met at The Smell.
The two play singer/songwriter punk. Now, if you’re going to pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about when I say singer/songwriter punk, that’s fine. It’s your journey. You do you. But that’s what this is. The songs are catchy and simple (not to be confused with simplistic) and honest. Many of these jams seem wrapped in some pain. I get that. We’re all just trying to deal out here. Just trying to make it.
You should stream this EP of 7 short and pretty close to perfect singer/songwriter punk songs that Girlpool made for you and I just posted for you below. Teamwork. Start with #1. “Blah Blah Blah.” And tell me you don’t want to listen to that irresistible song again immediately. Don’t though. Finish the EP first. That track is part of a bigger picture. I’m now going to stop telling you how to listen to music.
In summation, here's a quote from Girlpool taken from their shortest song. “We go to the parking lot. We don’t really say a lot. Love spell. Go to hell. Drink my wine. Everything’s fine.” I love it.
(UPDATE: I don't think that album stream works anymore. Well sheeeeeey-it, String!)
